Book of Jude is a series of discussions between myself, singer, songwriter – Jude Johnstone, and my daughter, 27 year old singer, songwriter – Ray Duncan, about the songs, stories, thoughts and experiences from my many years in the music business. We start from the beginning, growing up in Maine, playing in a top forty band, meeting Clarence Clemons on a plane, spending time in NYC and New Jersey under his wing, attending the famous No Nukes concerts at Madison Square Garden, watching Bruce Springsteen record “The River”, and then moving to Los Angeles in 1979. From there we delve into making demos, playing clubs, singing backup vocals, signing my first publishing deal, and getting my first songs covered by well known artists. Ray asks me questions about how each of those early experiences educated and shaped me. We also touch on some of the mistakes I made and how to avoid them. We discuss my choice to eventually leave LA for the Central Coast of CA to raise a family, while releasing 8 albums, touring Europe, opening shows for some of my heroes and finally moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 2015.

CALM Conversations about Learning is going in deep! So, if you’re a parent or educator who also happens to be a visionary; if you believe in communities more than you believe in institutions; if you recognize that it will take a village of VISIONARIES with viable ideas, insights and skill sets to educate our babies- then dive in because this is your education podcast!I am d. Zenani Mzube, educator, parent, grandparent and Restorative Practices trainer and I believe that educating is synonymous with relating and that the teacher-parent relationship is central to children’s learning. CALM Conversations about Learning (AKA C-CaL) aims to bring that relationship to a common space where teachers, parents- and our young folks share their vision of education, one conversation at a time. Together…We’ll unpack the experiences, insights, tough-love lessons, and unexpected gifts that have arisen from Pandemic Schooling. We’ll explore three foundational questions to help clarify our vision of education. Plus… I’ll do some educational nerding (Yes, if ‘adulting’ can be a thing, so can nerding!) to help you get CALM with my best practice Pillars for educating through relating! You can expect a new episode to drop every Thursday and whether the conversation is with a guest, a roundtable of students or between you and me, we’ll relate, empathize, store and trust our way to re-envisioning our children’s education WITH the folks who matter most, FOR the folks who matter most- and that just might be you, so subscribe and join us for a conversation about the “new normal” that our children, teachers and parents actually deserve.

I’ve been rambling on for years on my blog, and now I thought I’d start rambling on via a podcast as well. I’m eclectic; very sweary; frequently livid; perpetually confused. Topics I’m likely to cover will include gin, parenting, gin, why Original Source mint and tea tree shower gel is a fucking liability, gin, general musings on life, and a bit more gin. I believe kindness is everything, and that we should all try generally to be a little bit less of a dick.
