    Society Camp

    Society Camp

    by

    Since Apr 11, 2020 00:46 UTC

People are awful. You know it, I know it, and awful people everywhere know it. Society is failing, because people think it’s okay to re-heat fish in the work microwave, or stand side-by-side on an escalator. It’s not.

So what can we, as a society, do to ensure that we aren’t so shitty to each other? What we can do is start a fictional Society Camp where people can be sent to in order to learn how to properly operate in society. You think it’s okay to listen to Iggy Azalea at volume 11 on your open ear headphones? Well you just got a half day at Society Camp, where you’ll be locked into a dark room and serenaded by a shirtless Chad Kroeger the entire time (Photograph on repeat).

Every offence will be met with a different sentence (from hours to days, and maybe one day we’ll discuss something egregious enough to think about weeks/months), and coupled with a different reform punishment.

Society Camp may only live in our hearts and minds, but be warned, that if you are a dick who doesn’t know how to be a fucking human when among your peers, Society Camp is watching.

Urban Artist: Canada vs US Podcast

    by

    Since May 16, 2011 14:58 UTC

We ask the question to four different people involved in different areas of the music industry: “Why do you think it is more difficult for a Canadian urban artist to become successful on the world stage compared to an American urban artist.” Then we discuss the answer and give our thoughts on why the person asked gave their particular response. Each episode asks a different music industry person this question, and the entire episode is set to songs by various independent urban artists.

7th Son: 7 Days (Prequel Anthology)

7th Son: 7 Days (Prequel Anthology)

    by

    Since Oct 10, 2009 14:41 UTC

7th Son: 7 Days is a audio prequel anthology to J.C. Hutchins’ thriller novel, 7th Son: Descent. Set two weeks before Descent’s extraordinary events, the series reveals the lives of seven seemingly unrelated men, and their everyday challenges. In the world of 7th Son, “everyday challenges” are far from ordinary. Each of these seven stories stars a unique John Michael Smith. Witness criminal profiler Dr. Mike’s quest to hunt an unstoppable serial killer. Watch blue-collar musician John realize a lifelong dream. Ride shotgun with USMC captain Michael on a dangerous black ops mission in the Middle East. Behold the worldwide influence of deranged computer hacker Kilroy2.0 … and more. 7th Son: 7 Days represents the creative reboot of the popular 7th Son thriller series. Designed to tightly integrate with 7th Son: Descent’s print novel storyline, 7 Days is a perfect introduction to the 7th Son universe. Meet the Beta clones … before they knew they were clones.

#SITN Strength in the Numbers Show

#SITN Strength in the Numbers Show

    by

    Since Nov 15, 2017 18:46 UTC

The #SITN Show (www.sitnshow.com) is a popular accounting & finance podcast listened to in over 150+ countries around the world. Getting an accounting qualification or finance certification is one of the best things to do to make a difference in our society. It potentially gives us a position from which we can help businesses make better decisions for the good of their customers, suppliers, communities, colleagues and yes owners and other financiers too. We can help increase the opportunity for all. So #SITN was established to leverage the value of mentoring: 1. To elevate the influence, impact, value, and difference we make for our organisations; and 2. To have more fun, rewarding, and meaningful careers in accounting & finance. In this way we make it more accessible to everyone in our profession, regardless or geography, professional affiliations, status, gender, etc… The fundamental premise of #SITN is that despite for all the challenges our profession is facing into, the seemingly accelerating rate of change, the new digital technologies and business models, we still have the ability to share with each other practical advice & experiences on what works well and what doesn’t, so that we can all plot better paths forward. Every Thursday we release a professionally produced podcast with a 30- to 40-minute interview that has been recorded with a guest mentor relevant to the finance & accounting profession. These guest mentors share their real success stories and hard-won lessons which are not found in any textbooks or on LinkedIn profiles. Together with the interviewer they deconstruct their experiences into the key strengths, qualities and practical ‘baby’ steps that others can also follow. On Mondays there is the popular #SITN Monday Memo which is a 5-minute debrief on a topical issue or useful piece of practical advice in accounting & finance. The show is accessible via: iTunes; Stitcher; Spotify; YouTube; and Soundcloud, with detailed time-stamped show notes, key quotes, resources & ways to connect with guest mentors at www.sitnshow.com.

Entrepreneurship is tough. You have an idea about what you’re trying to build when you get started, then it gets real. Things can go (too) well or plans fall apart and you’re forced to choose between a pivot, staying the course, or giving up. At the end of the day, success can be just as challenging as failure, and we have lots to learn from both scenarios. These are stories from business owners sharing how they stay focused when entrepreneurship gets real. If you think you’re alone in this, you’re not. Listen in to learn from them.
