    To My Daughter…

    Since May 3, 2020 09:00 UTC

After a combined 10 years of work experience from #Google and #LEGO, I decided to hand in my #resignation letter to pursue a business idea. When I left LEGO, the plan was to find another full-time job that would make me better equipped to start my own company. But, as time passed, I realised that fear was the driving force to take on another full-time job.I didn’t need more work experience to pursue this business idea, what I needed to do was to jump in with both feet. So, I did. While navigating my way through this entrepreneurial journey, I decided to start a podcast “To My Daughter”. In this podcast, you’ll hear the experiences, thoughts, and learnings of a 2nd-generation- #Vietnamese #immigrant, living in #Norway. I’ll share everything from my work experience at Google and LEGO, to my thoughts on raising a daughter who is half Vietnamese, a quarter Nigerian, and a quarter Norwegian. The intention behind this podcast is to share what I’ve learned so far with my- currently- 2-year-old daughter. But, I hope you find this podcast interesting too. If so, hit that subscribe button! Oh, and my name is Mi, by the way. Pronounced the same way as “me” 😉

Alderpod – The Aldersgate Cycle Podcast

Alderpod – The Aldersgate Cycle Podcast

    by

    Since Apr 22, 2008 16:06 UTC

The Aldersgate is a steampunk western of epic scale, where the fate of the world rests on a final showdown between steam and sorcery. Cora Grey is a seventeen year old Alderclass girl who loves stories of chivalry and romance. But it isn’t easy being one of only five girls in Vell, the small Territories town where her father is the Alderman. Just as she finally musters up the courage to tell her best friend, the blacksmith’s son Brick, how she truly feels about him, all the hells break loose. The Order of the Oak, the Queen’s messenger knights, sweep through Vell and abduct all Alderclass girls–including Cora’s younger sister Denna. Cora narrowly escapes with the help of her maid Gem, and the town’s eccentric inventor, a diminutive woman named Professor. They descend into darkness and Cora finds herself an unwelcome guest in a wondrous underground city called the Nithings, inhabited by the peculiar Sibs. Which would be welcome–except that the Sibs, and their home, aren’t supposed to exist outside of fairy stories at all. Cora’s story, along with those of the bard Emry Roy, the knight Sir Sylvan DeLoire, Princess Ellinora, and the queen’s high counselor Kaythra Bav, sets the stage for a coming war between technology and magic and draw them all toward the Aldersgate, where the final outcome will determine the fate of their world.

Join applied language expert Charna Parkey, Ph.D. as she explores how the words we use often get in the way of good communication at work. We’ll be looking at the hard conversations: the ones that we avoid because we don’t have a shared language to even begin them. You’ll hear interviews with people like you, plus experts speaking to the nuance of approaching topics like racism, gender expression, mental health, and domestic violence. Along the way you’ll gain some shared language to start engaging in these conversations yourself, with linked resources available for every episode. We can change the way we communicate for the better—let’s find the signal in the noise.

Hi everyone, and welcome to Vocal Arts, the podcast that explores the world of professional voice artists. My name is Peter Barber, and I’ll be your guide along this path of vocal performance. I’m primarily a professional opera singer, music producer, and bass vocalist. Over the course of my career, I’ve trained and performed with world-class singers. I’ve learned all about the physiology and function of the human voice from leading voice scientists. I started a successful group of four bass singers called The Bass Gang, and I’ve grown my YouTube audience from 0 to over 100,000 subscribers via musical analysis videos. Beyond that, I currently sing opera professionally as a Studio Artist with Arizona Opera. I’ve performed in basically every genre from EDM to chamber choir, and with an undergrad major in audio engineering, I can comfortably bridge the gap between live performance and studio recordings, from the grandiose space of a 3000-seat opera house to the intimate, sound-proof booths used in voiceover. But perhaps most importantly, I’m an artist, fascinated by the various careers in vocal performance, and inspired to learn more about them from the best and brightest vocal talent the world has to offer. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey, and no matter what your involvement is within the world of vocal arts, I hope that here, on this podcast, you can both learn something and enjoy. This is Peter Barber, and I’ll see you next time on Vocal Arts.

    The Den of Sin

    The Den of Sin

    by

    Since May 3, 2016 13:05 UTC

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Den of Sin! I am your lovely host, TS Denizen, the denizen of the Den of Sin. Afford me the time to provide you with a brief summation of my story. I am not of the planet you call Earth. I hail from the planet Sinestra. On the planet Sinestra, I, along with many of the other Sinestrians, were not permitted to express our true selves. Our Elders believed there was a correct Way to Be that all Sinestrians were duty bound to adhere to, whether this Way to Be was the Way we Were, or not. The oppression of my soul was too great to bear! So I stole a space pod of my World and flew it to the nearest inhabited World which my Elders deemed Sinful: Earth. Here, I fell in deep love with Earth culture, and Earth music in particular. Each song was an undiscovered reflection of my own soul! And so I established this Den of Sin to share with you myself, others, and most importantly, yourselves.” The Den of Sin is a program that mixes elements traditional music radio with scripted radio drama. We play rock music from the indie-ground within the context of a sci-fi black comedy. Throw John Peel and Ed Wood in a blender together and the resulting blood smoothie hopefully tastes something like this show. Episodes fall under different categories. “Experiments” are the “main” series. These episodes are scripted and add to the Den of Sin multi-verse in tangible, story-related ways. “Studies” are interview episodes. A guest comes on and one of the characters asks them questions about who they are and what they do, and the guest selects the playlist. The last category is “observations”. These are rare, special video episodes where the characters will riff on a movie or short film. Guests may also be featured on these episodes. Regardless of your poison (or if you like to roll the dice and mix like me), I hope you find something in the Den that is to your liking.
