If Portlandia and Welcome To Night Vale had a baby it would be Welcome Thru Effingham. It’s the city everyone has passed through and no one stops to explore. Until now, of course. Enjoy the characters and stories (that we made up) from the Crossroads of America; Effingham, IL. All characters and events in this show – even those based on real people – are entirely fictional. All celebrity voices are impersonated – poorly. The following program contains clean comedy and due to its content should not be listened to by anyone. Welcome Thru Effingham is written and performed by Sketchpad Comedy and produced by STL Vernacular with Hugmonster Sound.

More than a generation ago, a common joke when an insolvent debtor or any other loafer who had changed his home, wished to leave warning behind him where he had gone, he chalked upon his door the letters, “G.T.T.” These letters were understood to mean “gone to Texas.” Shortly before his death at The Alamo, Davy Crockett is quoted, regarding his last campaign for Congress: “I was, for some years, a member of Congress. In my last canvass, I told the people of my district, that, if they saw fit to re-elect me, I would serve them faithfully as I had done; but, if not, they might all go to h——, and I would go to Texas. I was beaten, gentlemen, and here I am.” The roar of applause was like a thunder-burst. Andrew Hale’s long-forgotten book is NOT about Davy Crockett, but it IS about going to Texas in a Pullman train car, and various adventures that attached to it.

In each episode of Oldtaku no Radio, Ink and Jared Nelson don a new lens to delve into a specific cartoon series, animated movie, or game that’s affected one or both of them and pull it apart before your very ears to explain why. Ink’s drunken-master style of theorizing and Jared’s combination of foreign experience-based insight and raw smarts make a ton of information fun to swallow. Episodes run about an hour each (unless the hosts gets overexcited and get caught up in their own or each other’s over-analysis) and come out every month.

Things I have written, that others don’t want to publish I’m standing in the courtyard outside Resonance FM when I first see Jude Cowan Montague. In the antisocial state I get into after I’ve had to perform, I’m drenched in sweat from a mixture of mind shredding heat and anxiety after a piss poor live set and interview in Dexter Bentley’s show. I can hear…
