I’ve been building a world for the better part of a decade now. It’s grown and grown and I haven’t found a good way to put it all somewhere for people to see it. But then, a while ago, I did a podcast for my Latin class and had a lightbulb moment. And now, I’m doing a podcast talking about the history of that world. This is a one-person show. Sometimes things get a little messy, and I only got a microphone partway through, but I really hope you all like it. If you do, or don’t, please let me know at catofriday@gmail.com. To quote Richard Carrier, “Historians are the memory cells of the metaphorical ‘brain’ that is the whole human race.” In a time of “fake news” and the appropriation of facts for ideologic purposes, it is crucial for those of us who fulfill that role to engage with the public. Evoking History is a podcast where historians will discuss both their research and current events to preserve social memory.

In a post-plague world where humans, animals, and plants have suffered, a colony of survivors has gathered in a fortified former-luxury condominium complex they call “The Park”. These remnants of humanity are inextricably bound to their domestic cats from which Dose (a temporary plague vaccine) is derived. A forager army is heading toward The Park. The Park people must prepare to defend themselves and all they have worked for. They have made a discovery: not all cats are created equal. While regular Dose staves off plague symptoms, the dose derived from Simon (The Park’s only Siamese cat) can be refined into SHAT, a super-dose that rejuvenates the growth of plant life. . . and which also may hold the secret to a permanent plague-cure. Problem: Simon is a neuter. If he should die, so, too, dies humanity’s hope for survival. Enter Sasha, a purebred female Balinese of breeding age that also produces SHAT. With the increasing militarization in The Park (and sky-rocketing tension), Sasha’s humans want to leave, taking their cat with them. But The Park people won’t let them go. . . .

Have you felt it? Something is rippling through humanity at this moment. It’s a stirring… a longing… a remembering. A sense that we are more capable than we’ve been led to believe. We want to feel alive, not sedated.. but we’ve lost our way. We’ve traded a life intertwined with nature for asphalt and artificial lights. We’ve swapped natural movement for a sedentary existence. We’ve given up food from the earth in favor of food from the factory. We’ve sacrificed our traditional skillsets for apps and gadgets. But while our overdose on modernity may have made us sick, there is an antidote. Join best-selling author and mentor, Jill Winger, each week as she digs into a different facet of the old-fashioned on purpose lifestyle.

From being a misfit in society to a hero for a community, We Can Be Heroes is a podcast that celebrates people who have pushed through boundaries to achieve an inspirational level of success. Hosted by LGBTQ+ icon, Sink the Pink founder and King of the UK’s club scene Glyn Fussell, this is a podcast for anyone a bit different.
Glyn will each week be interviewing inspirational guests who have harnessed the power of being different and turned it into the reason they’ve achieved the success they have. They’ll be bearing it all, talking about their hardships and struggles, but focussing on the triumphs and successes to prove that it’s by being ourselves and accepting our individuality that we flourish.
Working his entire life to inspire and be a leader within the LGBTQ+ community, Glyn Fussell has a deep respect for people who work to uplift others, and that’s why he believes every one of his guests deserves to be called a hero.
Glyn will be bringing these extraordinary people down to a human level for an intimate chat, working out how they’ve managed to fight through the struggles. He tracks their journey from finding themselves, to accepting themselves, to embracing themselves and finally becoming a hero and making their differences a superpower.
When you’re different, finding a hero to look up to can be hard. Now these role models are in one place for an inspiring series that celebrates the unique!
