Conversations Over a Brew is a series of intimate recorded conversations exploring the stories of the people we (Heart of Glass, an arts organisation based in St Helens) make art with. So much goes into the making of a new artwork, that you might not ever get to see or experience. So these conversations are a window into the process of bringing artists and communities together and the creative journeys they go on. Recorded in St Helens (usually!), over a brew (cup of tea for our non UK listeners).

J Builders NY has Launched a podcast designed to give you a Harvard Graduate level education on Residential Construction in terms the layman can understand to become empowered buyers for their dream homes. During the construction of your home, home owners insurance will cover most of your risk but you are asked to grab a builders risk policy due to the possibility that a contractor breaks something or they open the roof and a leak sets in — the good news is you will only pay for the length of the time you’re using it. As soon as you close the extra policy you will no longer be charged. A contractor carries a general liability insurance and workmans comp insurance but a contractor will give you a certificate of additionally insured but a homeowner should get their own insurance during the length of the construction project. In order for a contractor to pull a permit the building department needs to have all of a contractors paperwork in order otherwise a contractor cannot pull a permit but there’s no way for a contractor to know if a homeowner has done their own due diligence. A bonus item Josh shares are the details regarding a certificate of occupancy that must be processed before you can live in your home regardless of how many other items you have done properly. Thoughts, concerns, interests and opinions of your host, Gilbert Quiles. The daily musings of a married father of 2, who is very much aware that the middle of the road has been reached – where he’s been, where he’s going and hopefully the directions on how to get there. A fun chance for me to share with you those thoughts that typically never find their way into the world. Sit down and have a drink on me…what do you think about that?

Welcome to the audio edition of The People’s Scrum. This is a low-fidelity audio book, recorded in the back garden of my Sheffield, UK home during the coronavirus lockdown. Most of the recordings were made in the early mornings, around sunrise. You’ll hear birdsong, the sound of the local foundries, and perhaps the occasional radio or other neighbourly noise.
