    Cross Conversations

    Cross Conversations

    by

    Since Apr 17, 2019 03:56 UTC

“When we are going through life, there is always one road that we come to that connects us in every direction and at this crossroad we have to choose which direction we want to go in. The idea behind Cross Conversations is having open minds come to the table to talk about different philosophies, religions, likes, dislikes, social media, love, hate, anger, and more…….AND finding Christ at the center of it all.” Being Christian is the foundation of our lives, our beliefs, our opinion, and our perspective. Our goal is to interlock all of that together and discuss why Christianity is important, why the Cross is important, and how we find Christ at the center of it all because He is the answer to it all!

No One Wants to Help a Hikikomori

I’ve been sent to 3 different psychiatric wards, 5 different times. Each year they destroyed my life and no one, not even online wants to help, this is the record of my plight. I hope one day it would matter to the world because right now – no one is keeping them from chaining me inside a place way worse than when I didn’t leave my room.

    Were You Raised By Wolves?

    Were You Raised By Wolves?

    by

    Since Aug 27, 2019 19:10 UTC

Editors’ Notes: “I want to give everybody the tools to solve their own etiquette problems,” says Nick Leighton, cohost and producer of Were You Raised by Wolves?, a weekly podcast in which he and cohost Leah Bonnema look into the many sticky social situations we all face. “With each of the questions that we get, from the bonkers to the ordinary, I always try to take a step back and ask, ‘What are the bigger principles here?’ I’m always looking for topics that help us make a larger point.” In each episode, Leighton, a two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, and Bonnema, a comic/writer, share practical advice on how to navigate a wide range of situations, from the serious to the whimsical—whether they tackle interrupting excessive talkers, establishing healthy boundaries with coworkers, or the proper way to eat Cheetos. When they developed the show in 2019, Leighton and Bonnema had one goal in mind: to have empathy for other people. Their informal conversations tackle a mix of personal topics, viewer questions, and the occasional historical fact with warmth and positivity and humor. Leighton views this approach as an antidote to a lot of the negativity he sees in the online world, while Bonnema thinks the show’s premise is a natural fit for her situational style of comedy. “A lot of my comedy is about events where I’m like, ‘What just happened here?’ or where I embarrass myself,” she says. “And, ironically, all of these fall under the guise of etiquette, where you either feel aggrieved or you feel like you committed some sort of social crime. I just loved the topic.” Leighton and Bonnema credit the show’s ongoing success to their work ethic. They haven’t missed a single week since they launched the show, which recently hit a new milestone: 100 episodes. But what they value the most, above all else, is how they’ve built a community of listeners from all backgrounds. “We have conservative grandmothers in Tallahassee to nonbinary chefs in Seattle and everybody in between,” he says. “Because who among us has not experienced an etiquette crime? This is universal.” — Etiquette, manners, and beyond! Join Emmy® Award-winning journalist Nick Leighton and acclaimed comedian Leah Bonnema (“Late Show with Stephen Colbert”), the perfect odd couple, as they try to make the world a nicer, more polite place and offer up practical advice to help you smoothly glide through any situation. Please listen and follow! (We’d send you a hand-written thank you note if we could.)

    BBI You’re On Mute

    BBI You’re On Mute

    by

    Since Sep 21, 2021 15:41 UTC

BBI ‘You’re On Mute’ is a new podcast series conceived by the UK’s first Black Business Institute, an organisation which aims to boost prospects for underprivileged Black entrepreneurs, by promoting equivalent access to the UK’s funding structures and essential business networks.

Our hosts June Sarpong, Bianca Miller-Cole and Lord Michael Hastings interview an incredible line-up of leaders, icons and change makers, to ascertain how they balance the importance of commercial performance versus societal impact.

In our first special episode, June speaks to Christo Brand, a man who was originally Nelson Mandela’s Jailer and later became his best friend. He provides unique insights into one of the 20th Century’s few globally celebrated social justice icons.

We will also be in conversation with a range of business leaders and icons, such as Vinod Kumar, CEO of Vodafone’s £10bn business division, Nicholas Coleridge, Chairman of the V&A, Tidjane Thiam Former CEO of Credit Suisse, singer & song writer Emili Sandé and fashion icon Paul Smith.

Covid-19 and the killing of George Floyd have emphasised society’s race, class and social equality fault lines, and we’ll be touching on these issues over the course of the series. As we all know, with great power comes huge responsibility, and we look at how those in positions of influence, can use their status as a force for good.

Our time together is broken down into three sections with the guests sharing their favourite piece of music or soundtrack, representing a memorable stage of their life.

This podcast is produced by 4DC – The Podcast Strategists.
