There can be no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic has cast light on significant issues impacting our children today. Headlines are rife with the warning signs of a generation in crisis; mental health, academic gaps and substance abuse overdoses have ravaged communities across the U.S. The tumult of the adolescent world, augmented by these crises has heeded a call to action to protect our kids, not seen in decades. As an educator, I have seen the impacts, endured the challenges and taken a direct interest in this call to action. Mission Z, “Empowering Change” will be an advocate for our struggling youth. We want to give voice and relevance to the students, families and educators in our communities to foster connections, facilitate meaningful conversations with professionals in the field to ensure collaboration for real action and real solutions. RODNEY C. REID is a master voice over artist, writer, actor and model who has had a lifelong passion for words. The podcast, Rodney Reads: A Fascinating Word Experience, is unapologetic, organic and unplugged. “Theatre Guild on the Air” was a popular radio anthology series that aired from 1945 to 1953. It was produced by the Theatre Guild, a prominent theatre company in New York City that was responsible for many successful Broadway productions.
The show adapted famous plays and literary works for radio, featuring some of the biggest stars of stage and screen.
Each episode of “Theatre Guild on the Air” was a one-hour radio play, often featuring elaborate sound effects and music. The series tackled a wide variety of genres, from classic dramas to comedies, mysteries, and even musicals. Some of the most memorable episodes include adaptations of “Hamlet,” “The Glass Menagerie,” “The Maltese Falcon,” and “My Sister Eileen.”
One of the hallmarks of the series was its impressive roster of guest stars. Over the years, “Theatre Guild on the Air” featured performances by some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis, Ingrid Bergman, John Gielgud, and Fred Astaire, among many others.
