It is based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. Creator and three time Academy Award Winner Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption) teamed up with AMC to bring this comic series to television. Alongside Darabont and Kirkman, Executive Producer Gale Ann Hurd (Terminator films, Aliens) also works on The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln as sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma to find a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesh-eating zombies. He sets out to find his family and encounters many other survivors along the way. Throughout the 5 seasons of the show, Rick and his group have been through hell and back. Rick and the survivors have had to fight through Walkers but soon realized the most dangerous thing left in this apocalypse is the people who have also survived. Season 5 kicks off with Rick and the group fighting their way out of a group of cannibals and soon starts right into their journey to Washington D.C. Alongside Andrew Lincoln are Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira, Chad L. Coleman, and Sonequa Martin-Green who also star in the series.
