Hi Everyone – welcome to Things You Pretend to Know About. It really should be called, “Things I Pretend to Know About” but that just isn’t as catchy. I pretend to know about, well, mostly everything and I think a lot of people can relate to that. So I bring on people with certain life experience or expertise to teach me about how things /really/ are, so I can stop talking out of my a$$ all the time. I also think we can all benefit from actually listening to one another, instead of jumping down each other’s throats. Because with listening comes learning and with learning comes growth…and we could all grow up a little in 2020. So, join me on my journey out of ignorance, with Things You Pretend to Know About.

Hey, I’m Sally Osborne, the coming out coach. Raised in the LDS (Mormon) church, I had a clear plan for my life since as early as I can remember. Until everything suddenly imploded. After a deep dive into my soul, I experienced the excruciating pain of losing my faith. My internal world was destroyed and my external world came soon after. When I had the strength, I began to search for the bricks to begin rebuilding. I desperately needed to understand myself. To heal. To believe in myself. To FIND myself. And then to be true to myself. I realized I am GAY and have been my whole life! Soon after came the pain. Staying married to a man would have been the ultimate betrayal of self. So, I did it. I came out! I am living my truth. I’m here on the other side and you guys, believe me when I tell you it is WORTH IT! I don’t just feel happy, I feel ALIVE! And it is so beautiful. After coming out of religion or the closet, there are still challenges to be faced. THIS is life. Being a human is not easy. We’re all on the path, evolving and discovering more of who we are every day. No matter where you are on your journey, I am here for it. Peace Out is for everyone. I’m here for you, your partner, parent, sibling, or BFF, as you peacefully navigate coming out of religion or coming out of the closet. Or if you’re like me, both! I created this podcast to give you some encouragement and love through these super challenging times. Whether you personally have questions, are looking for help, or a even a community, I see you. I hear you. You got this! When you feel like you don’t fit in, you fit in right here. Find Sal on Instagram @comingoutcoach

Making friends is hard. Making friends as an adult can be harder. Making friends when you spend most of your workdays in an office with just your boss is nearly impossible. Friends From Work is about the trials of making friends as a “grown-up”, where exactly we make friends and how we maintain those friendships while we navigate the complexities of adulthood. We’ll also be talking about what it’s like working with friends, turning a work friendship into real friendship, and how when we support each other in competitive industries “a rising tide lifts all ships” (or friend-SHIPs, eh?)
