Future of Food: A Food Podcast About What’s Next

Future of Food: A Food Podcast About What’s Next

    by

    Since Sep 22, 2017 04:29 UTC

A podcast about eating better for ourselves and for the planet. We interview change-makers, consult with medical authorities and journalists, and highlight innovative restaurants and food services. Lee Schneider anchors Season 3, focusing on how restaurants will survive in pandemic times. We are part of the FutureX Network.

Restaurants are the soul of a neighborhood. That makes the news hard to hear that this week we’ve had another order to close restaurants here in Los Angeles. Some owners decided that it’s just not worth it. They shut their doors. Maybe for good.

Our guest for this episode is Grace Guber, host and producer of The Family Meal podcast, She shares per perspective about working in the restaurant business during the pandemic and suggests some ideas about what the future of restaurants might be.

Wild Blue Yonder: A Novel of the 1960s

Wild Blue Yonder: A Novel of the 1960s

    by

    Since May 23, 2015 19:54 UTC

Wild Blue Yonder is the coming-of-age story of Nathaniel Hawthorne Flowers, a smart but sheltered boy from suburban Chicago whose beloved father suddenly dies, resulting in his flunking out of college. Nate receives a draft notice from the Army but after some “encouragement” from his mother, decides to enlist in the Air Force instead. It is 1965. Nate is 20 years old. Airman Flowers goes not to Vietnam but Germany, straight into a military Catch-22. His assignment: writing stories as a reporter for the Stars and Stripes newspaper which will never see print. Nate’s adventure deepens as he and his fellow troops try to understand why they’re there, the military mindset, and the massive social turbulence of 1960s America. Existential, psychedelic, funny, and laced with rock ‘n’ roll, Wild Blue Yonder is the story of Nate’s quest for personal and spiritual values while discovering the meaning of family, friendship, and the love of the girl he left behind. “I could not put this novel down, and I did not want the journey to end. This is a well-written, engaging, very funny, thoughtful and bold first novel for this author.” – Rita Peterson “A coming-of-age story set in the 1960’s, Wild Blue Yonder offers what finding yourself really means set against the turmoil of a time, place, and culture so different and similar to today. I heartily recommend this book!” – Casie “Overall, a great read, highly recommended.” – Michael Fedison

The rabbis tell us that the Torah (Scripture) has seventy faces. That means that the text of the Bible can be endlessly fascinating. Like the facets of a diamond a great work reveals truths about our lives–daily joys and daily burdens—truths which can illuminate and inspire when approached from various perspectives. To uncover thoughts, values and moral precepts embedded in the text will be the purpose of this podcast. Another purpose of the podcast: to initiate discussions and deeper learning of the texts.

It is a story based on how we coped and cared. Andrew had brain cancer that has taken over his brain and spine. He is terminally ill and has weeks left of life. If you have questions that you would like to ask, please email me at keepaaron@hotmail.com and I will cover all questions in the next broadcast.
