    Forts on Food

    Forts on Food

    by

    Since May 31, 2022 08:19 UTC

‘What’s the podcast all about?’ I asked my daughter, Lois.

    ‘Food, Dad,’ she said.

‘Ah, but food in what shape or form?’ I said.

‘Well, it’s about how we cook what we cook and why we cook it,’ she said.

‘And how we eat what we eat and why we eat it,’ I said.

‘That goes without saying’, she said. ‘There’s no cooking without eating.’

    ‘What else, then?’ I said.

‘There foods we hate and foods we love, food on tv, how not to waste food, restaurants we remember and why. There are recipes and tips and hints. There are stories, memories, reflections. There’s -‘ she said.

‘All of life, in other words,’ I said.

    ‘Pretty much,’ said Lois.

    ‘Hmm,’ I said.

‘And you’re quite well known, Dad,’ she said. ‘Food Editor of the Guardian. Award winning writer. Award winning author. TV hero.’

‘Steady on,’ I said. ‘What about you?’

‘Let’s just say I take a different view from you.’

    ‘Quite right too’, I said.

So there you have it – dad & daughter; the wisdom of ages and the spirit of youth; united and divided; chatting about food, glorious food. And cooking and eating. What more could you possibly want?

The Strong AF x Well-Conditioned Show

The Strong AF x Well-Conditioned Show

    by

    Since Jan 27, 2022 19:52 UTC

In the Strong AF x Well-Conditioned Show, Jason Brown pulls back the curtain on how to get brutally strong and, like the namesake says, well-conditioned. As a 17 year veteran in the strength and conditioning field, a Conjugate Method expert, former CrossFit gym owner and now a mentor to fitness professionals, Jason’s number one mission in this stage in life is to teach coaches how to write insanely effective training programs. Most coaches are good at either strength or conditioning, leaving conditioning as an afterthought, and it hijacks potential strength. Jason will talk about how to marry these two modalities, how to use them correctly, how to structure a training program in hundreds of scenarios, and more. This is your one-stop shop for learning how to get results for you and your clients, because at the end of the day, #resultsareking. Join Jason every Wednesday with short, easy-to-digest episodes talking about all aspects of strength, conditioning, recovery, and life as an OG online coach.

Secrets of Attorney Marketing with Richard Jacobs of Speakeasy Marketing Inc.

Secrets of Attorney Marketing with Richard Jacobs of Speakeasy Marketing Inc.

    by

    Since Dec 1, 2016 06:25 UTC

Being a great attorney doesn’t mean you’ll retain quality clients or build a successful, respected law practice. In fact, if you don’t have a significant online presence, positive reviews, and a powerful website, you’re going to lose out to young, aggressive, web-savvy attorneys with a third of your experience. Richard Jacobs of Speakeasy Marketing offers the unvarnished truth about how to market your solo or small law firm to become the pre-eminent firm in your metro and practice areas. Subcribe for frequent updates of secrets of attorney marketing.

Gigi Grandoli is a litigation and paralegal expert who has a deep understanding of what elements are needed to make a law firm successful.

Speakeasy Marketing guides law firms and private attorneys to their greater success, advising them on marketing strategies and putting plans into action, productive targeted marking efforts that yield new, and better, clients.

Grandoli talks about her journey and how she became interested in pursuing her career in the legal space. As she recounts, she fell into the law arena by accident, starting years back as a file clerk, but before long she was moved quickly up the chain and today she does critical litigation paralegal work, often in the personal injury law area.

Grandoli talks about some of the mistakes small and large firms make. One problem is that firms often seek the cheapest, most expendable employees at the entry-level positions, but Grandoli states this creates a situation that could present major problems. Cutting costs on salary at this level, by bringing on just ‘anyone’ can damage your firm because the lower-level employees can make or break your business. It’s important to give your lower-level employees a feeling that they are important to the firm, and empower them.

Grandoli talks about the importance of incoming calls and having employees on staff who can field calls in an informed manner. For example, you never want a client to call in and get a feeling that the admin staff doesn’t know what they’re doing. If a client or a potential client calls in, don’t tell the client you don’t know the answer to their question; tell the client that you will put them on a brief hold and get them the answer!

Grandoli states that it’s critically important to let admin staff know that they can come to you, as the principal of the firm, or associate, or senior paralegal, etc., to let the admin staff know that there are no dumb questions, that every detail is important—so let’s talk about it!

Song Gifts from the Holy Spirit

Song Gifts from the Holy Spirit

    by

    Since Oct 17, 2011 00:37 UTC

My wife, Eva and I, Vic Zarley, are songwriters. We each had written many songs before we met each other and continued to write songs once we were married. After our marriage, we found that often God would use each of us to write a song together. I would be working with the guitar on some interesting chord progression while humming, thinking, “Where did this come from?” and Eva would stop me and say, “I’ve got lyrics. Play what you were doing again.” Often the lyrics are practically dictated to her by the Holy Spirit, coming faster than she can write. And then, to God’s glory, a song would be birthed. Truly a gift from the Holy Spirit. This Podiobook is a bit different from any of the others I’ve produced as it incorporates three of our songs into each episode. You will hear how each song got its life, what each song means to us, and, when applicable, the life lessons present in the lyrics. These songs were written by myself (Vic Zarley) and/or Eva Zarley. Most of these songs have been uploaded to Jamendo.com and you can get to our material that way as well by searching for Vic and Eva Zarley. Every song is available through Creative Commons licensing and can be downloaded and enjoyed at no charge. We pray that you are blessed as you journey through these 12 episodes exploring 36 of our songs, as we share their stories and related inspirations then the actual songs themselves. The theme song is by Vic Zarley. The coverart is by my brother, Karlan Zarley, with much appreciation! Produced and narrated by Vic Zarley.
