“The Sword That Explodes” and similar random podcasts
Predominantly recorded in actors’ homes (good old lockdown, eh) with some elements recorded at Rubber Factory Studio (good old non-lockdown, eh), The Sword that Explodes follows Clive, a naïve barbarian exiled from his tribe, and his subsequent adventures with new “friends” Lily and Roger as he tries to leave his old ways behind, with results ranging from disastrous to disgusting.
This sitcom stars John Barron (Little Shop of Horrors, Judi Dench Playhouse), Gillian Horgan (The Widows, Reverie) and Steve Kent (Birthday Suite, Crimes of Passions). It also features Holly Gillanders (Double Act), Keif Gwinn (Russian Whispers), Tom Slatter (Robot Overlords), Kevin Watkins and Elise Whyte (Jasper Dragon, BBC Sesh), plus special guest Tom Crowley (Wooden Overcoats, BBC Radio 4 Extra).
Created and written by Olly Allsopp and Nick Briggs. Directed and produced by Keif Gwinn, Nick Briggs and Olly Allsopp. Theme music and post-production by Stefan Inglis. Additional post-production by Keif Gwinn. Special thanks to Josh McLeod at Rubber Factory Studio.
