    The Way Podcast

    The Way Podcast

    by

    Since Nov 10, 2022 04:00 UTC

The early church was originally called “The Way.” Before denominations or government controlled religion, Christians did not have sects, but followed “The Way” as Jesus says in John 14:6, “I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me.”The Way podcast is seeking to reach those who are seeking God and Truth but may not identify with a specific religion or denomination. We are seeking to help individuals find their identity, which we believe can only be found in the one “Way,” Jesus. We welcome discussion of various cultures, religions, and philosophies to find what is True, and what really is the The Way to life?

    The Seeds of Black Lily

    The Seeds of Black Lily

    by

    Since May 20, 2021 05:52 UTC

The Seeds of Black Lily is an audio documentary exploring Black music in Philadelphia at the turn of the Century, and the performance space that made the movement possible.

In this episode, we explore the role of media and changing technologies in documenting the movement as it was taking shape in Philadelphia. In the first portion of episode 4, we feature some of the people that helped document that moment as well as their use of media: filmmaker, Mike D., radio host, Tiffany Bacon, and writer and co-founder of Okayplayer[dot]com, Angela Nissel.

In the second portion of this episode, we discuss the final days of Black Lily and the fire that took place at the Five Spot. But, we don’t just leave off there. That time at the Five Spot continues to reverberate across time and space!

The atmosphere created by the Jazzyfatnastees helped water the seeds for future generations to come. As such, the second portion of the episode features drummer and singer-songwriter, Tre Lambert, and writer, Jasmin Johnson — two artists from Philadelphia that follow in the tradition of Black music and Black performance practices!

You can visit 808s and Jazz Breaks for more info on this episode and the entire series!

What Do You Think? is a relaxed, comedic podcast starring Hartley and Cathan. They discuss a new random topic each week and usually have some laughs in the process. They are in no way intellectuals, and their opinions mean absolutely nothing. Listen along for a laid back, and hopefully funny experience. The Many Roads to Japan/Autumn Shadows in August

The Many Roads to Japan/Autumn Shadows in August

    by

    Since Feb 19, 2006 13:59 UTC

Two books: (1) an ESL novella-textbook about a Vietnam War conscientious objector’s 14-year search for identity and (2) an hallucinogenic mid-life crisis/adventure novel, and homage to Malcolm Lowry and Hermann Hesse. [itunes pic]
“The Many Roads to Japan” tells the story of the adventures of a conscientious objector who had to follow many twists and turns in his life journey before finding his niche in Japan. Suitable for low intermediate level and above ESL and EFL students. An excellent resource for peace education studies, too. “The Many Roads to Japan influenced my students a lot, not only in studying English but also in searching for their own identities and thinking about how to live their lives.” — Kazuyo Yamane, Peace Studies lecturer at Kochi University

(3.1 mb; 4:35 minutes) To order a trade paperback or PDF download copy of “The Many Roads to Japan,” go to my bookstore. You can also order from Amazon.com and other online bookstores.
