Consolation of Philosophy (Latin: Consolatio Philosophiae) is a philosophical work by Boethius written in about the year 524 AD. It has been described as the single most important and influential work in the West in medieval and early Renaissance Christianity, and is also the last great work that can be called Classical. Consolation of Philosophy was written during Boethius’ one year imprisonment while awaiting trial, and eventual horrific execution, for the crime of treason by Ostrogothic King Theodoric the Great. Boethius was at the very heights of power in Rome and was brought down by treachery. It was from this experience he was inspired to write a philosophical book from prison reflecting on how a lord’s favor could change so quickly and why friends would turn against him. It has been described as ‘by far the most interesting example of prison literature the world has ever seen.’ The Consolation of Philosophy stands, by its note of fatalism and its affinities with the Christian doctrine of humility, midway between the heathen philosophy of Seneca the Younger and the later Christian philosophy of consolation represented by Thomas Aquinas. – The book is heavily influenced by Plato and his dialogues (as was Boethius himself). Brinkvale Psychiatric Hospital art therapist Zach Taylor is endlessly curious, perhaps to a fault. When his cheerful elderly patient Gertrude “Spindle” Spindler completes her latest quilt and informs Zach that a 30-year-old “grand design of nine” has just concluded, Zach’s curiosity is piqued … and he soon embarks on a quest to unwind the meaning of the woman’s cryptic phrase. He isn’t expecting a descent into a world filled with mystery and ruthless subcultures — and he isn’t expecting to be haunted by Spindle’s coy clues. What is The Great Blade of Blood? What are The Charred? What is the grand design of nine? And who is the dark-skinned stranger stalking Zach at every turn, threatening his life? The answers may lie in Spindle’s granddaughter, a willowy self-proclaimed psychic named Hen. But Zach soon discovers that Hen may be crazier than the patients he treats … and the treasure he’s pursuing may be more dangerous — and deadly — than he ever imagined. Personal Effects: Sword of Blood is a podcast-exclusive novella written by J.C. Hutchins, author of the 7th Son trilogy. [LINK: http://podiobooks.com/podiobooks/search.php?keyword=7th+son%3A ] It is a prequel to Hutchins’ print novel debut, Personal Effects: Dark Art. A Cardano based podcast that is focused on bridging the gap between the Degens and the Normies. How will we do this?? Our plan is to be a podcast that relates to EVERYONE! However for the Degens we will also be talking about what is going on in Cardano. By making this both a Cardano/everything podcast we will be making it easier for the Normies to get involved in Cardano, while also keeping the Cardano Degens laughing even through a bear market. IS THAT ALLL????!!!! FUCK NO!! The Degen Report is planning on being the launching pad! We will also be releasing YouTube videos, that lean more towards the comedic side of Cardano. These will consist of everything from Clips from the podcast, to doing Cardano based tier lists We also plan on doing livestreams! Whether this be us talking to another project about what they are about, playing games with the community or even doing karaoke with the community. We plan on doing it allllll! WHY???! We at The Degen Report believe that the Cardano Community has been missing a ton of good comedic Influencer based content. Thats where we come in! We plan on filling that whole with content ranging from youtube videos, podcast clips, to livestreams! Well anyways if you have made it this far… then you are for sure a Degen! So welcome to The Degen Report!
