525 Years in the Pursuit of Truth: A New History of The University of Aberdeen

525 Years in the Pursuit of Truth: A New History of The University of Aberdeen

    by

    Since Nov 9, 2020 17:17 UTC

From its ancient origins in the 1495 founding of King’s College through to thriving global endeavours in 2020, the University of Aberdeen boasts a historic legacy spanning 525 years of leading and engaging with intellectual currents of the wider world. Yet quatercentenary and quincentennial memorial histories of the University of Aberdeen portray the institution from a regional and national perspective. The Aberdeen University librarian between 1894 and 1926, Peter John Anderson (1853-1926), edited the quatercentenary commemoration volume, Studies in the History of the University published by the New Spalding Club in 1906. Serving as the secretary of the New Spalding Club, Anderson sought to promote the Club’s interests in the North-East of Scotland by shedding new light on the history of the University. In celebration of the quinquennial anniversary, another brief illustrated history of the University by Jennifer Carter and Colin McLaren—Crown and Gown—published by Aberdeen University Press in 1994 succinctly surveys University achievements as historically significant in Scottish contexts. This podcast series, drawn from a forthcoming edited volume to be published by Aberdeen University Press, presents a new history of the University of Aberdeen, one that accounts for the University’s activities in the transnational and global transmission of ideas since its foundation.

    Plant Problems

    Plant Problems

    by

    Since Dec 4, 2019 10:00 UTC

If you’re thinking of investing, working, or starting a business in the cannabis industry, then you need to listen to Plant Problems, a podcast that takes a different approach to cannabis than what you’re seeing and hearing from the mainstream media. Hosted by Tony Frischknecht, the podcast provides high level information to help you understand the business more and make your decision on the direction you want to take. Tony has been successful in the cannabis industry for over fifteen years, and he’s going to take you along on a ride that will help widen your horizon and your industry knowledge about this amazing plant. The cannabis industry is still very new. Therefore, there are a lot unknowns. These unknowns are rather scary, but we will take you on a journey to help uncover the unknown. In Plant Problems, he’s going to be breaking down and tearing apart the myths of the cannabis industry along with shedding some light on the opportunities in the industry. Born and raised in Colorado, Tony always enjoyed the challenge of starting and building a business. At the young age of 25, he became an entrepreneur with two small construction companies. In 2005, he got introduced to the medical marijuana industry in Fort Collins, Colorado, and started a small MJ caregiving business called Highway to Healing. By the time he was 35, he had two dispensaries with an annual revenue of $6.5 million in sales, including two indoor grow facilities in Denver, Colorado – all four locations having 19 city and state licenses. In late 2012, Tony joined a group of industry leaders to build Organa Brands and started a successful cannabis brand called O.penVAPE. The maker of vaping products and edibles posted a top-line sales of $100 million in 2016 and prides itself of selling a product every nine seconds. It buys ten tons of marijuana a year and creates over 1 million grams of concentrated cannabis oil a year. Organa Brands is the only cannabis company with products on the market in ten states, including at 1,200 dispensaries. Subsequently, Tony has moved on to other ancillary businesses involving small scale extraction and commercial grow technologies. He is also the author of the newly released book, From Black Market to The Man, which outlines the 10 steps to becoming a multi-millionaire in the legal cannabis industry. With the fast evolution of the industry and the acceptance by those who used to be skeptics, the opportunities are vast. The Plant Problems podcast will make that much easier to navigate for you as Tony will be featuring and interviewing some people he knows personally and some who are working in the industry that are large influencers at this point in time to help facilitate and address a lot of your concerns and your needs. Be prepared to take in as much information as you can along with understanding as we all learn together from the experts and come out with an amount of insight that will be very valuable. Come along with Tony Frischknecht for the ride here on the Plant Problems podcast as he shows you more of the industry than anybody out there. Be in the know about how to invest, work, or start a business in the cannabis industry. We look forward to having future conversations with you as we go along this journey.

Featuring interviews with both actors and academics, Shakespeare’s Shadows delves into a single Shakespeare character in each episode. Perspectives from the worlds of academia, theater, and film together shape explorations of the Bard’s shadows, his imitations of life — pretty good imitations, ones that reveal enough of ourselves that we’re still talking about them four centuries later.
