    Maculate Conception

    by

    Since Oct 15, 2018 08:00 UTC

Now in their third year of In-Vitro Fertilization treatment, we documented Abbe and Isaac’s experience so listeners can hear first-hand the intimate struggles of a couple experiencing infertility. They share their hopes, dreams, doctors appointments, and late-night fights and reveal an up-close, personal, and sometimes funny look at a couple longing to become parents in real time. Abbe and Isaac Feder met in the summer of 2008. For Isaac, it was love at first sight. Eventually, Abbe got on board. They were engaged a year later, and got married because of their love for one another, and also because they wanted to have children. After hearing stories from friends: warnings from their own bumps along the road, and trying to be as supportive as possible, they felt sure this was not one going to be their story. As it turns out, their story became extremely complicated.ABBE MERYL FEDER is a writer, producer, and actress in Los Angeles. She’s an Artist in Residence at the Braid Theater in Santa Monica. Her struggle with infertility led to co-founding InCircle Fertility, a coaching business helping people navigate infertility. She is also a stylist, and is a recurring contributor to the blog What’s Up Moms. You can find her on social media at @absofstyle (instagram). She grew up on the mean streets of New York’s Upper East Side, graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and studied at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She is an avid mahjong and card player, an escape room enthusiast, and has been called by many friends a true “balabusta.” ISAAC FEDER is a film director and television showrunner. Recent projects include series for Netflix, Sony Pictures Television, Disney+, Amazon, and Fuse. He has directed shows for Comedy Central, VICELAND, Tru, YouTube Originals, and IFC, and has worked with Sacha Baron Cohen, Robert Smigel, Nikki Glaser, Ken Jeong, and Haley Joel Osment. His first feature film, the scripted comedy Sex Ed, won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature Film at the Portland Film Festival. His short film produced for ESPN’s “30 for 30” series, AC Green: Iron Virgin, was an official selection at the TriBeCa Film Festival. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, and holds an MFA from the American Film Institute Conservatory. Isaac was born and raised in Chicago, and now lives in Los Angeles.

The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane

The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane

    by

    Since Dec 10, 2023 00:00 UTC

The Red Badge of Courage is a fiction that tells the story of a soldier named Henry Fleming during the American Civil War. The novel gained widespread praise from critics and was also a commercial success shortly after its release and made Stephen Crane an instant celebrity at the young age of 24. In the novel, Henry was one of the enlisted soldiers in the 304th New York Regiment. He flees from battle in one of the skirmishes they had against the Confederates and to hide his cowardice, he attempted to inflict a wound to himself which is referred to as the “red badge of courage.” He got the wound that he wants to have when he joins a group of fellow soldiers retreating from the battlefield. One of them accidentally hit his head with a rifle butt and wounded him. When he came back to their camp, the other soldiers there quickly treated his wound believing that he got it during the battle. After this incident, he again went back to the battlefield and was able to prove that he was really a capable solider. Most critics praise this novel because of the very realistic way in which Crane was able to describe all the battle scenes in the story. He was born after the Civil War and had not even experienced a fight in any war. It’s very interesting to know that Crane was able to write a very realistic novel about the War just by reading other novels about it and listening to the stories told by war veterans in New York. Readers who are into historical war novels will definitely have a great time reading this book. Although it’s a work of fiction, its contents are very realistic and accurate. This is very important especially for a story with a historical setting. This book will definitely not disappoint anyone who’s looking to read a good novel about the Civil War.

    by

    Since Nov 20, 2023 14:33 UTC

A podcast for people interested in social impact careers and what is happening at the cutting edge of addressing society’s greatest challenges. Our title is taken from Robert Frost’s poem, “The Road Not Taken” where he concludes, “I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” Interpretations of that final line vary, but one thing is certain: There is more than one road to a meaningful destination. Through conversations with alumni of Dartmouth College who have leveraged their professional lives for the common good, we chart out what those roads can look like.

    Since Jan 1, 1970 00:00 UTC

Michel Eyquem de Montaigne is one of the most influential writers of the French Renaissance, known for popularising the essay as a literary genre and is popularly thought of as the father of Modern Skepticism. He became famous for his effortless ability to merge serious intellectual speculation with casual anecdotes and autobiography—and his massive volume Essais (translated literally as “Attempts”) contains, to this day, some of the most widely influential essays ever written.
