“Make the Connection – to End Human Trafficking” and similar random podcasts
Human trafficking is modern day slavery involving the use of force, coercion, or fraud to obtain some type of labor or sex act. It affects every corner of the world and Texas, and Denton County are no exception. Interstate 35 being an un-tolled highway and a major cross-country, north-south route is one of the main trafficking routes in the country. There are over 300,000 victims of human trafficking in Texas, including almost 79,000 youth victims of sex trafficking and nearly 234,000 adult victims of labor trafficking, according to a 2016 study by the University of Texas at Austin. In this podcast, we’ll explore what’s being done throughout Denton County and the nation to help these victims and highlight various initiatives to combat human trafficking.
