Mark’s Gospel is certainly the shortest, and possibly the earliest of the four canonical gospels. It covers Jesus’ life from his Baptism to his Resurrection, but concentrates particularly on the week leading up to the Crucifixion. It appears to have been written for a general audience, and its relative simplicity makes it perhaps the most accessible of the four Gospels for a first time reader. (Paragraph by Justin)
