Grey’s Anatomy has been a show that has provided a great deal of entertainment for Cliff and Stephanie. The first several seasons of this show were rock solid. Seasons five and six gave us some of the best episodes ever for this tv show. However, these same seasons gave us not only some of the worst episodes of Grey’s but of television in general. At least that was Cliff’s opinion on the matter at the time. From February 2009 through May 2010, Cliff and Stephanie had created a total of 70 episodes of this podcast covering the first six seasons of the show. If you like this podcast, you may also like the Twilight Saga Podcast at http://TwilightSagaPodcast.com or the Hunger Games Fan Podcast at http://HungerGamesPodcast.com Stephanie and I have a main podcast that we still produce today called “Family From The Heart.” Check it out at http://FamilyFromTheHeartPodcast.com And of course I invite you to check out my main podcast, The Cliff Ravenscraft Show, searchable in your favorite podcast directory.

November 4, 1971 Jennifer Rose Cooke, a girl from California, just turned 18, goes missing in a frigid forest in West Germany. She has been hitchhiking. First she caught a ride with a trucker, then with a West German soldier. Maybe she was trying to visit a young professor she had met on the boat over from New York. On that trip, he had heard her say she might throw herself overboard. April 28, 1972 Another girl, just turned three, lives with her parents in a house in Laurel Canyon that lets the California rain in. Her biggest fear is of the brown snails in the garden; she will not cross the brick path if one is there. It is her father’s twenty-sixth birthday; on this day his sister Jenny’s remains are found. Officially, she died of exposure, although a murder investigation is begun and the file remains permanently open.

The 6% with NancyMD is dedicated to women thriving in traditionally male-dominated fields. As a female orthopaedic surgeon, I belong to the 6% that are women in this field – and thus the inspiration for the title. The birth of The 6% came about when I was at an airport and saw a female commercial airline captain. Though I didn’t know her, I wanted to talk to her and ask her all about her life and path – and I wanted to hug her, knowing she likely experienced many of the same challenges that I had. I realized that across disciplines and careers, we have parallel experiences and struggles in following our passions. I hope that by sharing these stories, we will inspire the next generation of women surgeons, scientists, firefighters, engineers, CEOs. In The 6%, I talk to women about how they arrived at their careers, and the facets of their lives that brought them there. We talk about imposter syndrome, microagressions, barriers to entry, pay gap, mentoring, obstacles and failures – more importantly, how we get up from those failures. If you love stories grit, perseverence, resiliency, then The 6% is for you!
