    We The Wild Ones

    We The Wild Ones

    by

    Since Jan 23, 2021 19:03 UTC

A podcast about adventurers, sort of, kind of? It’s about the adventures small, and big and everything in between from people who maybe don’t follow that traditional lifestyle.

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to do a long thru-hike? Or what it might be like planning for such a trip? And are you starting to feel maybe just a little overwhelmed by everything that’s out there?

Well, don’t worry because in this episode, Episode 9 of We the Wild Ones, I had the chance to talk with just the person to put your fears at ease. Chris Denu, aka The Bold Nomad, has done a lot of hiking. And I’m not just talking day hikes here. Chris is from Vermont, like me, and has since moved out west to bigger mountains. He quit his job in 2016 and has been living nomadically since. Some of his big adventures include hiking the Continental Divide Trail in 2017, trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp, hitting 44 of the 50 state high points, and a lot of international travel.

It took us a few weeks, months, to finally catch up, a bit tricky since we are both living on the road and cell service can be a little spotty sometimes. But we finally made it happen!

    Notable Points

    – Best tips for getting into hiking
    – Biggest things learned while on the CDT
    – Managing life on the road
    – Making family trips into adventures
    – Getting outside your comfort zone and say yes

    Questions:

What’s one non-essential item you can’t live without?

    – Cell phone, although cell phones seem more essential now, Ipad for watching Netflix. Coffee.

If you could have one useless superpower, what would it be?

    – Instant recovery, could do a big day and then another big day without feeling the effects. Then I could just keep going day after day.

What’s your best tip for living an adventurous life?

    – Just say yes. Say yes to opportunities, figure out how to pay for things later, commit to it and figure out the details later.

    Sweetbitter | A Sappho Podcast

    by

    Since Sep 15, 2020 00:15 UTC

An investigative history podcast with a focus on queer & women’s history. Each season, we explore a different corner of history, using literary works or historical figures as a starting point to discuss a broader story of erasure of people with marginalized identities. In our second season, we bring you a high-seas adventure full of surprises as we uncover the queer & women’s history of pirates. Gay love and even marriage were more common in the 17th-century world of pirates than we might expect, and history is full of cross-dressing, swashbuckling pirates who broke gender norms and created their own queer culture. We explore the stories behind these radical rebel and discuss why have those stories been erased for hundreds of years. Season 1 delves into the truth and controversy surrounding Sappho; her life, the Isle of Lesbos and her relevance today. Produced in partnership with 3SM.

    Since You’ve Asked

    Since You’ve Asked

    by

    Since Jun 16, 2021 16:56 UTC

In the 1960s, Collins evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 60-album body of work, thriving in the music industry for over a half a century. Her latest project, SINCE YOU`VE ASKED is an audio podcast series focusing on some of Collins` favorite musicians, artists and luminaries from her colorful life. A perfect platform for Collins, as her recordings of musical greats like Randy Newman, Jimmy Webb, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen helped launch their careers and create the foundation of our current pop history. The format of the show is conversation between Collins and a fellow musicians, songwriters, poets, authors, and creative thinkers. The project will launch July 2021 and will feature two studio podcasts a month. Future guests will be Jeff Daniels, Julia Cameron, Ben Harper, Pat Allerton and more… At age 82, Collins defies all preconceived notions of what an octogenarian life should be. She maintains a vigorous tour schedule and consistently strives to learn new things, delves into the important questions and forges new paths like creating a Podcast series – SINCE YOU’VE ASKED.
