“What gets you out of bed each day?” They ask me this before I leave the psychiatric ward of the hospital, for my safety plan. I have no answer, and after a few minutes they suggest “Friends? Family?” I give in and say friends, but it’s a lie. I don’t know why I wake up each day. Most days I wish I didn’t. This podcast is about my life as a 22 year old white cis straight woman with a lot of privilege and a lot of pain. For whoever is willing to listen, truly listen, I’ll take you through a journey of my past and present, while simultaneously trying to find the answer to the question “What gets you out of bed each day?”. There will be no holding back, it’s gonna get messy, strap in. TW: Depression, Anxiety, Self-Harm, Suicide Attempt, Medication

Mark is an improviser and Rick is just awesome…and the two of them have watched WAY too many movies over the years. In March 2014 they decided to record their frequent film discussions and in 2016 they added a Brian to join in the fun! Together they revisited some of the classic films of their youth at times with a guest…while often getting completely off topic. The cinematic comedy may have wrapped up in 2019 but you can still check out the back episodes to join them in discovering if their childhood favorites held up. Won’t you join them at the theater? The continued success of the “Jataka Tales,” as retold and published ten years ago, has led to this second and companion volume. Who that has read or told stories to children has not been lured on by the subtle flattery of their cry for “more”? The Jataka tales, regarded as historic in the Third Century B. C., are the oldest collection of folk-lore extant. They come down to us from that dim far-off time when our forebears told tales around the same hearth fire on the roof of the world. (Summary by Ellen C. Babbitt)

Hi! My name is Lindsay and I host Stuff about Things: An Art History Podcast. It is a podcast where I tell you stuff about things. From giant Buddhas to lost paintings, each episode is a deep dive into a particular work of art, artist, or issue within the world of art history. My goal is to make art history accessible, enjoyable, and fun for anyone with a digital device and a desire to learn! My dog, Gus, also plays a key role as the podcast’s muse and mascot. Come for the information, stay in spite of my very bad jokes. Please note that episodes may contain mild language, the occasional innuendo, and a healthy dose of sass. Happy listening!
