    Since Jan 5, 2021 23:24 UTC

Have you ever had those friends that you wish would just shut the hell up, but you can’t tune them out? Two fraternity brothers turned lifelong friends, Alec Nyman and Jason Gross take their listeners on a ride as they discuss music and pop culture in this open forum for debate, banter, and laughs. They’re opinionated, they’re boisterous, they’re Jewish, and they’ve got all the music hot takes you didn’t think you needed to hear. Special guest and Pittsburgh’s finest, Jacob “Junior” Recht joins the squad to talk all things Mac Miller. From personal stories of Mac from Jewish summer camp to Pittsburgh’s finest sandwiches, Junior and the boys cover the career of Malcolm McCormick from A-Z.

Mike & Andy: Stream of Consciousness

Mike & Andy: Stream of Consciousness

    by

    Since Nov 1, 2019 01:44 UTC

Mike & Andy: “Stream of Consciousness” Defined by: The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica, with minor edits by Mike & Andy Hawksley. (Quite a bit of editing actually. Okay, We basically re-wrote it. CRAP – just drop “basically” alright! We re-wrote the whole darn thing.) Accessed via WWW on November 4, 2019 and edited later that same day. “Stream of Consciousness”, is a narrative technique intended to render the stream of myriad impressions – visual, auditory, physical, associative, and subliminal – that impinge on the sub-consciousness of the podcast listener to reform a portion of their emotional awareness along with a transliteration of the listener’s rational thoughts to better align with those of the show hosts. Positive goal attainment is achieved through narrative vignettes, travelogues, memoirs, autobiographical tales, debate, fairy tales, argumentation, fables, legends, and a number of other rhetorical modes of discourse – along with a smattering of wit and humor. The term “Stream of Consciousness” was first used by the psychologist William James in ‘The Principles of Psychology’ circa 1890. As podcasting was just beginning to take hold, it became necessary to gain new listeners and convert those listeners to subscribers. To this end, some forward-thinking podcast hosts attempted to capture the total flow of their own “Stream of Consciousness”, rather than limit themselves to articulatable thoughts. To represent the full richness, speed, and veracity of the podcaster’s mind as it works, the hosts construct a thought-stream by incorporating snatches of intellectually incoherent thought, neo-grammatical verbal constructs, a bit of whimsey, and a liberal dose of freely associated ideas, sounds, and words to achieve an enlightened level of communion with the podcast audience. Hilarity ensues. Don’t believe me? Just put on your tin-foil-Faraday-helmet and listen to this…

    Winter of Different Directions

    Winter of Different Directions

    by

    Since Oct 1, 2007 16:00 UTC

In this podiobook: The characters in Steven J. McDermott’s short story collection Winter of Different Directions struggle to keep life’s body blows and uppercuts from becoming knockout punches, whether they bring them on themselves, or receive them from friends, lovers, co-workers, or family. You might root for them. You might root against them. But just like the relatives you hope won’t show for Thanksgiving, these are characters you can’t forget. With his stunning range and passionate delivery, it is McDermott who delivers the knockout punch in this debut collection of twenty short stories.

    Pub Talk with Ann Stephens

    Pub Talk with Ann Stephens

    by

    Since Jun 15, 2021 16:30 UTC

Is it important for others to share my beliefs? If they have differing opinions on politics, religion, or anything else is it important for me to know what that is? Do I care? Do I want to know? Why does it even make a difference? When we make an effort to know and understand one another it creates a respect and empathy that makes us better humans. When we are better humans we are able to show kindness and love to others. Your host, Ann Stephens, will walk through this interview style podcast as she invites on guests from all backgrounds and professions. Being a preacher’s kid herself with a background in sociology and seminary – Ann noticed a gap in discussions when questions of ‘why’ or ‘how’ came up in conversation – and therefore, this podcast was born. In the Pub Talk Podcast we invite people share their beliefs and convictions. We believe this facilitates a society of kindness and compassion. Our desire is to make a positive impact on our world one person and one conversation at a time.

    Why are people watching this?

    Why are people watching this?

    by

    Since Feb 12, 2021 00:23 UTC

Dave, Justin, and Ashley watch the #1 show on Netflix for the week and try to answer the question: why are people watching this? Comedy and consternation ensue as two agreeable middle-aged chaps and a punchy millennial from rural Canada are subjected to bizarre Korean sci-fi, graphic true crime documentaries, unnecessary medical dramas, baffling 90s sitcoms, and insufferable Hallmark Christmas films. Their honest reactions are filled with wit, insight, and that oh-so Canadian brand of wholesome irreverence and humble exasperation.
