Tunelighting – How to Produce an Album in One Year

Tunelighting – How to Produce an Album in One Year

    by

    Since Apr 2, 2020 20:11 UTC

The aim is simple, the task probably not: two people attempt to write and record an album, in one year, while holding down full-time jobs – a process we are now calling ‘Tunelighting’. Can it be done? In this podcast series, friends Jack Edwards and Rob Wreglesworth will document their journey from day one – where they have no band name, no songs and no idea where to start – to day 365, where they will (hopefully) have a completed musical record. Each episode will cover a different subject related to recording music at home, sharing tips, insights and lessons learned along the way. The hope is that this podcast can act as a template for anyone else who wants to try Tunelighting! The podcast is brought to you by MusiciansHQ.com

You read it right! We are no longer asking ourselves ” Why Am I like This?!” and pivoting to embracing all of the things that make us, us + allowing a space for all the topics, thoughts and feelings that just come seemingly “Out of the Nowhere”! I hope you all stay along for the journey — I cannot confirm nor deny that a WAILT doesn’t come out from time to time but now we are embracing all the randomness that is ME! -xo Kaitlyn Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kg-wailt/support

Square Notes: The Sacred Music Podcast

Square Notes: The Sacred Music Podcast

    by

    Since Feb 24, 2019 02:11 UTC

You’ve got questions about sacred music? Here’s your chance to learn what the Church teaches and envisions for music in the sacred liturgy. Welcome to Square Notes: The Sacred Music Podcast with your host Dr. Jennifer Donelson-Nowicka. We address topics of interest both to priests and liturgical musicians, as well as a general audience of Catholics interested in learning more about the Catholic Church’s teachings and treasury of sacred music. Our topics range from discussion of Church documents on sacred music, to the music of certain composers or eras, Gregorian chant, the role of music in Catholic education, and techniques for directing a better choir rehearsal. We’ll interview bishops, priests, music directors, composers, teachers, philosophers, and theologians. We’ll talk to people who found a home in the Catholic Church because they heard the call of Christ in the Church’s sacred music. We’ll ask questions about how really great music programs are doing their work. We’ll introduce you to Catholics who love their faith and, through sacred music, offer all their efforts for his glory and the sanctification of all who hear them. We aim for our podcast to be thoughtful, encouraging, and informative. We hope, too, that it will inspire and motivate you to work for the renewal of authentic beauty in sacred music—whether you’re a working church musician or an average Catholic in the pews wondering what’s going on. With the prayers of our patronesses, Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom and Saint Elisabeth of the Trinity, we hope to help draw souls to Christ through the beauty of the Church’s sacred music.

Shaykh Ahsan Hanif, PhD, is the Head of our Quran and Hadith Sciences Department. Surprising to our students, Shaykh Ahsan is actually among our youngest instructors; his calm demeanour, mature attitude, and advanced knowledge causes us to assume otherwise. Born and bred in Birmingham, UK, he is well known in his community as the young Qari who memorised the Qur’an at the tender age of 13 and who delivered regular halaqat in Birmingham. In the year 2000, he gained a scholarship to enter the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing his Arabic diploma, he graduated from the Faculty of Shari’ah in 2006 with honours. He obtained ijazah in the Qur’an as well as studied under a number of well known scholars, such as Sh. Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad and Sh. Muhammad ibn Muhammad Mukhtar al-Shinqiti. Shaykh Ahsan also recently completed his PhD in Islamic Law from the University of Birmingham. Known for his unique Britishness, and love for sweet things, he’s taken the AlMaghrib world by storm!

    History Impossible

    History Impossible

    by

    Since Jan 28, 2019 05:47 UTC

History: Impossible is exactly what it sounds like: impossible history. People, events, ideologies, STORIES–all that sound impossible. But all true. NOTE: Please stick through the intro. There’s an important announcement.

WARNING: This episode contains the use of offensive racial epithets and disturbing depictions of bigotry that some listeners may find upsetting.

What was like to be a child and grow up during the rise of the Nazis? Many have given us memorable answers to that question. There are even those who are still alive and remember it, however vaguely, though we are quickly losing them to the passage of time. But a more pressing and unusual question must be asked, especially in the context of this story: what was it like to be a child and grow up during the rise of the Nazis…while also being black?

In this episode of History Impossible, we’re going to explore this question by looking at the epic life story of a one Hans-Jurgen Massaquoi, the son of African nobility and German peasantry. We’ll see how his existence was allowed for by the incredible story of Liberia itself, as well as its relationship with the early Weimar Republic. We’ll look at how his existence was received both before and after the rise of the Nazis. We’ll see how their education reforms and adoption of American-style eugenics impacted him. We’ll cover the famous pre-war events that would help shape Hans into the man he would become, namely the famous Joe Louis v. Max Schmeling boxing match and the 1936 Olympics in which Jesse Owens took home the gold. We’ll examine how he survived the war years and what it was like to live under such conditions as a German civilian.

But most of all, we will be shown what it means to not only survive, but to thrive, despite all odds being stacked against you as you grow up in a world that is objectively and abjectly hostile to your very existence.
