How I Ripped Off Buffy The Vampire Slayer

How I Ripped Off Buffy The Vampire Slayer

    by

    Since Jul 8, 2018 22:16 UTC

When award nominated screenwriter Chip Thompson was 14, he was mildly obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, comic books and a whole manner of geeky pop culture. So he decided to write his own series, centering around what it would be like if he and best friend/Co host MC were supernatural, crime fighting ninjas in Tokyo. It was as terrible as it sounds, full of plagerism, clumsy references and out right stealing of ideas mixed with its own unique blend of B Movie horror and superhero plots and ideas. Now, 17 years later, Chip and MC read through each episode of this series (much to Chip’s chagrin), brought to life with their unique acting skills. Whether you’re a Buffy fan, or enjoy works such as Gareth Margenghi’s Darkplace, My Dad Wrote a Porno, the Evil Dead or just like to hear a grown man wince at his teenage ramblings, we think you’ll enjoy the How I Ripped Off Buffy The Vampire Slayer podcast. Available on iTunes, SoundCloud, YouTube and Stitcher Radio. You can find us on Facebook at facebook.com/howirippedoffpodcast and on Twitter, @HowIRippedOff

The Think Outside the Beltway podcast

The Think Outside the Beltway podcast

    by

    Since Sep 15, 2017 23:49 UTC

Each week, your hosts–public radio veteran Stephan Cox, political science PhD candidate Chad Levinson, and Democratic strategist David Gershwin–unpack the week in politics and attempt to drill down through the chatter and into something that quite possibly resembles the truth. Born during the 16-month long national nightmare that is the 2016 Presidential election, the show continues to evolve, examining greater and deeper themes and threads across the political and cultural landscape. Stephan Cox is a broadcasting veteran, working in and around radio for over 30 years. He was the host of the former Salon.com Radio Show for PRI, and has reported for NPR’s Weekend All Things Considered. He was a founding member of, and show host at, the groundbreaking interview website, Redband.com, while also hosting a weekly arts and culture show on KUSF in San Francisco, as well as a weekly call-in tech show for Talk Radio Network. Chad Levinson is an academic political scientist, completing his doctorate at the University of Chicago. He is also a former Research Fellow in the International Security Program of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He is currently a preceptor in the Committee on International Relations at the University of Chicago, a degree-granting graduate program that trains future leaders in government, academics, and not-for-profit organizations world-wide. David Gershwin is a Democratic strategist, and was the Chief of Staff to LA Mayor Eric Garcetti. His consulting firm provides government relations, issue advocacy, media relations, crisis communications, and social media services for private sector, public sector, and non-profit clients.

    MCMP – Philosophy of Mind

    MCMP – Philosophy of Mind

    by

    Since Sep 19, 2012 00:47 UTC

Mathematical Philosophy – the application of logical and mathematical methods in philosophy – is about to experience a tremendous boom in various areas of philosophy. At the new Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy, which is funded mostly by the German Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, philosophical research will be carried out mathematically, that is, by means of methods that are very close to those used by the scientists. The purpose of doing philosophy in this way is not to reduce philosophy to mathematics or to natural science in any sense; rather mathematics is applied in order to derive philosophical conclusions from philosophical assumptions, just as in physics mathematical methods are used to derive physical predictions from physical laws. Nor is the idea of mathematical philosophy to dismiss any of the ancient questions of philosophy as irrelevant or senseless: although modern mathematical philosophy owes a lot to the heritage of the Vienna and Berlin Circles of Logical Empiricism, unlike the Logical Empiricists most mathematical philosophers today are driven by the same traditional questions about truth, knowledge, rationality, the nature of objects, morality, and the like, which were driving the classical philosophers, and no area of traditional philosophy is taken to be intrinsically misguided or confused anymore. It is just that some of the traditional questions of philosophy can be made much clearer and much more precise in logical-mathematical terms, for some of these questions answers can be given by means of mathematical proofs or models, and on this basis new and more concrete philosophical questions emerge. This may then lead to philosophical progress, and ultimately that is the goal of the Center.

    Ranking The Beatles

    by

    Since Jun 14, 2020 19:25 UTC

Musician and self-described Beatles fanatic Jonathan Pretus ranked the entire recorded catalog of the Beatles, because he’s a big, big nerd. Then he decided to make a podcast to talk with other people and learn about their connection with The Beatles’ music. Tune in as Jonathan and his guests, joined by his co-host/wife Julia (a more level-headed, casual fan) discuss the rankings, what they think makes each song so great (or not-so-great), and see if it really is a fool’s errand to try and rank the music of the greatest band of all time. 1 Day Business Breakthrough – Helping Entrepreneurs Discover Their Next Big Idea Today |1DayBB

1 Day Business Breakthrough – Helping Entrepreneurs Discover Their Next Big Idea Today |1DayBB

    by

    Since May 22, 2017 09:29 UTC

Welcome to the 1 Day Business Breakthrough (1DayBB) Podcast! Each episode features the voice of one real-life business owner who shares their most painful struggle, followed by a 15-minute “hotseat” where entrepreneur hosts Pat Flynn and Chris Ducker go back-and-forth to brainstorm, share ideas and develop strategics, tactics and tips to help that person break through their struggle. Each episode ends with both Pat and Chris sharing what each of their next steps would be. 1DayBB started as a small, in-person event in San Diego where Pat and Chris would bring in 20 entrepreneurs and have them spend 15 minutes in the “hotseat” to present their biggest struggle while the entire room would collaborate and mastermind to help that person find their breakthrough. All of this in one day. Hence, 1-Day Business Breakthrough. The first 1DayBB event was held in 2013 and it was a massive success! Since then, Pat and Chris have held many more 1DayBB events, including one in Australia. Tickets for every event have sold out within 24 hours. Despite being massively popular, the small mastermind events are also extremely limited. The high demand for more gave Pat and Chris the idea for the 1DayBB podcast, adopting the same hotseat format to provide the most value to those featured on the show, and to those listening as well. It doesn’t matter what kind of business you have, what your target market is or what level you’re at. The 1DayBB format provides the most value for your time possible. At the live events, all of the attendees agree: although their time in the hotseat was fantastic, it was their ability to listen to other people’s hotseats that was the most helpful and inspiring. Of course, we haven’t forgotten about the community aspect of the 1DayBB format either. If you go to 1DayBB.com/community, you can join in on the mastermind conversation about each episode as they come out. And finally, we couldn’t hold back from continuing our live events, although we’re opening it up to attendees in a much bigger way, and you won’t even have to fly in to attend. For more information about our upcoming live event, visit 1DayBB.com/live.
