    Theatre Aesthetics

    Theatre Aesthetics

    by

    Since Mar 11, 2019 17:15 UTC

I am a lifelong theatre geek and proud of it. I have over 20 years of theatrical experience both on and off the stage, have sung in operas and musicals, acted in plays, conducted pit orchestras, directed choreography, hung lights from the rafters, designed and built sets when we barely had a budget for gaff tape, and micd and live mixed musicals. A lot of the knowledge I have gained over the years has been through mentorships with some of the most hard working and creative people in the business. I wanted to understand how all aspects of theater work, from costumes, to sets, to lights, to composition and performing. I’m still learning and there’s so much to learn and share. In the spirit of Stephen Sondheim I created this podcast to be a place of inspiration. His typed letters of encouragement to folks lifted so many up and brought so much joy and hope. It is my hope that this podcast, and it’s attached blog, will bring you encouragement on your theatrical journey. At whatever stage you are on, be it Broadway or a cafe-gym-atorium I want you to feel supported in your craft on stage and behind the scenes. So, welcome to Theatre Aesthetics™️! I’ll share tips on the theater and the creative process, ways to organize your shows and auditions, interview artists and professionals, and present the occasional radio show. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast and I look forward to hearing from you. You can find me at theatre@moonoverthetrees.com, and on Instagram @theatreaestheticspodcast

    Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians

    Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians

    by

    Since Oct 19, 2021 14:00 UTC

For more than 50 years, the writers at Rolling Stone have been sitting down with artists to get inside their sound, their creative process, and the realities of being a musician — but what happens when we take the writer away and ask two great artists to interview each other? In each episode, two iconic musicians sit down for a conversation about their discography, artistic approaches, personal lives, and everything in between. With the artists in charge, no topic is off-limits. The Musicians on Musicians podcast offers extended, deep-dive versions of the conversations between artists that you can read in the November issue of Rolling Stone. With the musicians in the driver’s seat, this is not your typical interview series. You’ll get to hear the moments in which two musical forces connect — artist to artist, person to person. Musicians on Musicians is adapted from Rolling Stone’s popular franchise.

She-rab Dong-bu (The Tree of Wisdom) by NAGARJUNA

She-rab Dong-bu (The Tree of Wisdom) by NAGARJUNA

    by

    Since Jan 1, 1970 00:00 UTC

The She-rab Dong-bu (Tree of Wisdom) is a metrical translation in Tibetan of a Sanscrit ethical work entitled Prajnya Danda, written by Nagarjuna who flourished in the fourth century of the Buddhist era (about 100 B.C.), The Tibetan version was probably made about the 11th century of our era but the exact date has not been determined. It is included in the Ten-gyur, ངོ་ section, volume གོ་, beginning at leaf 165. The Tibetan translator describes it as the second volume but I cannot say whether the remainder of the work has been preserved in Tibetan–the Sanscrit original is apparently lost. – W.L. Campbell

The music is rock and roll-based, sermons are both live and on video, and dress is casual. But at the same time, the services draw from 2,000 years of Christianity by incorporating some of the beautiful old hymns, prayers, and responses.
