âWhatâs the podcast all about?â I asked my daughter, Lois.
âFood, Dad,â she said.
âAh, but food in what shape or form?â I said.
âWell, itâs about how we cook what we cook and why we cook it,â she said.
‘And how we eat what we eat and why we eat it,â I said.
‘That goes without sayingâ, she said. âThereâs no cooking without eating.â
âWhat else, then?â I said.
âThere foods we hate and foods we love, food on tv, how not to waste food, restaurants we remember and why. There are recipes and tips and hints. There are stories, memories, reflections. Thereâs -â she said.
âAll of life, in other words,â I said.
âPretty much,â said Lois.
âHmm,â I said.
âAnd youâre quite well known, Dad,â she said. âFood Editor of the Guardian. Award winning writer. Award winning author. TV hero.â
âSteady on,â I said. âWhat about you?â
âLetâs just say I take a different view from you.â
âQuite right tooâ, I said.
So there you have it – dad & daughter; the wisdom of ages and the spirit of youth; united and divided; chatting about food, glorious food. And cooking and eating. What more could you possibly want?
