The Smart IT Podcast, where IT professionals can assemble and hear from each other, industry leaders, thought leaders, and those in adjacent fields to collaborate and learn from each other and explore what’s next for IT. The Smart IT Podcast explores what’s next for IT as it continues to find ways to get the important things done for our organizations. Preparing for the next decade, we need to think differently about how we approach our work to continue to thrive into the future. Smart IT is an approach, conceptual framework, and development model to getting the important things done by transforming the way traditional IT thinks, works, and leads. It supports the disruption of the status quo, simplifies the complex, reduces uncertainty, and improves risk mitigation. There has never been more pressure to deliver for our organizations; but I know IT is up to the challenge. That will require IT to lead by working smarter. Let’s do it together.

Experience the power of starting from scratch, overcoming self-doubt, and embarking on a new creative journey.
While daydreaming about my next project, I realised that quitting has become one of my top skills in both good and bad ways. It is a skill I have honed since childhood. I have quit the usual: jobs, sports, instruments, friendships (ouch!); and some less common things: high school, Bible college, countries. If you need a little break from the stories of achievement, join me as I recount the things I have quit as well as the things I have quit trying to quit (social media and procrastination, I’m looking at you!). Hopefully, my failures (and a couple of successes) will make you feel better about your own life for at least a little while. Insta @iquititpod Twitter @iquititpod Between my procrastination and starting back at work, I have been slack in writing a proper episode. Here’s a little something to hold you over. David Hume is one of the great philosophers of the Western intellectual tradition. His philosophical writings earned him lasting fame and renown; his historical writing earned his bread and butter. His “The History of England from the Invasion of Julius Caesar to the Revolution of 1688”, published between 1754 and 1764, was immensely popular and Hume wrote that “the copy-money given me by the booksellers much exceeded any thing formerly known in England; I was become not only independent, but opulent.” The six volume work has had numerous editions and is still in print today. David Hume and Thomas Babington Macaulay have frequently been compared as the premier English historians but we don’t have to choose because Macaulay begins where Hume leaves off. This is Volume 1D which covers the reigns of Elizabeth I to James I. (Summary by Richard Carpenter)
