Speaking into the Void with Tyler W.

Speaking into the Void with Tyler W.

    by

    Since May 30, 2022 04:55 UTC

Welcome and Hello to the Void, where I put my voice out there with something that says “this is me, I am here”. I also want this to just be another view of life; I want people to come out of each episode with an “upgraded” perspective, a perspective to help understand. There are so many things out there that can bring us the answers that we need or even the questions we have yet to ask ourselves. Now, I’m not an expert in many things and I won’t be an expert for many of the topics that I’ll cover on this podcast. I’m simply just a jack of all trades that hasn’t mastered his trades; a polymath; a generalist that seeks to give an added perspective to life. I do have knowledge to give but I also have a lot more to gain as well, however, this IS the Void where the random, weird and insightful hang out.

We dive deep into early life and influences, and the unconventional path by which these folks have made an impact on those around them with their commitment to making and showcasing great music. Find us online at herefornowpodcast.com and on social media at @herefornowpod. All episodes produced by Tyler Floyd, with music by The Fever Haze, and art by Alex Maniak. In our debut episode, I sit down in my old REO Town office in Lansing with the founder and executive director of All of the Above Hip Hop Academy, co-director of the Below The Stacks Mural Festival, and independent rapper, Ozay Moore. We spent some time talking about growing up in Seattle and what brought him to Lansing, his time on Warped Tour, and we reveal Ozay’s real name. And through all of that, we talk about using hip hop and street art as a positive force in a community.

What Trump Can Teach Us About Con Law

What Trump Can Teach Us About Con Law

    by

    Since Jun 8, 2017 02:51 UTC

Professor Elizabeth Joh teaches Intro to Constitutional Law and most of the time this is a pretty straight forward job. But when Trump came into office, everything changed. During the four years of the Trump presidency, Professor Joh would check Twitter five minutes before each class to find out what the 45th President had said and how it jibes with 200 years of the judicial branch interpreting and ruling on the Constitution. Acclaimed podcaster Roman Mars (99% Invisible) was so anxious about all the norms and laws being tested in the Trump era that he asked his neighbor, Elizabeth, to explain what was going on in the world from a Constitutional law perspective. Even after Trump left office, there is still so much for Roman to learn. What Roman Mars Can Learn About Con Law is a weekly, fun, casual Con Law 101 class that uses the tumultuous activities of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches to teach us all about the US Constitution. All music for the show comes from Doomtree, an independent hip-hop collective and record label based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    So Called Oreos

    So Called Oreos

    by

    Since May 7, 2019 04:00 UTC

Rebranded from So-Called Oreos, Sufficiently Black is a show that explores what it means to be comfortable in your Blackness despite living in a world obsessed with stereotypes. Hosts Kia, Amari, and Janae deep-dive into Black womanhood, identity and culture through a critical lens as they navigate their way through adulthood.

We’re taking a look back at an episode during the So-Called Oreos day for the holiday season! The hosts start off on a little bit of a funny tangent (sorry!) about a white student not knowing he applied to an HBCU and some funny Jonas Brothers interactions. The conversation revolves around how Black people celebrate the holidays and how it may different from our white counterparts. Rachel and Amari explain how they celebrate in a Caribbean household and the four debate if potato salad is only seasonal and what goes on yams. They later discuss the history behind Kwanzaa and why many Black Americans don’t celebrate as well as how to deal with grief during the holidays.

Is Kwanzaa Still A Thing? www.npr.org/2012/12/28/16820286…anzaa-still-a-thing
