Hey! I’m Ashley Burkhardt, a Midwest girl who lived out her dream of becoming a D1 softball player and, later, a professional athlete. SO MANY parents ask me how my parents were able to raise THREE daughters to become D1 athletes, and I truly believe it wasn’t a coincidence. I’m ready to share with you a little bit of how WE did it (from the car-ride home conversations to traveling 4 hours a week to lessons) and give you some tips and tricks to help your daughter reach her dreams. I’m eager to also share with you interviews with some of the BEST softball influencers, parents and coaches to see how THEY did it…because, just like you, I’m eager to learn how to become the best version of myself, and learning from other people’s journeys is how we can make that happen. Buckle up! This is going to be a FUN ride!

Once upon a time, I rode a 171cc scooter across the US. For those that aren’t able to immediately picture what exactly that looks like, and why that causes alarm in many, imagine a small, sort of roadworthy entity that is not at all intended to be used in such a way. Now, add too much luggage, a bright pink motorcycle jacket and a gal with boat loads of determination to make it work. This, my friends, is only the beginning. This crazy adventure took me about five months once I got scootin’. Needless to say, I almost died a lot. But, I’m also here to tell you; I loved every second of it all, Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-scooterlife-podcast/support

AnthroTalks is an audio extravaganza on the magical mundaneness of everyday life. Designed by practicing anthropologists, Taapsi Ramchandani and Inga Treitler, this monthly podcast series brings you conversations and videos that speak to the dramatic and not-so-dramatic forces that shape our lives and livelihoods. To tell our stories, we experiment with the tools we carry with us every day in our minds and in our pockets, like our smartphones and Google Voice. And why not? When our lives can be on-the-go, shouldn’t podcasting? Enjoy the show, and stay curious! Have you ever gotten in line and waited… not sure if you were in the right place? Not sure what is going on up front? Waiting. It’s unremarkable. You don’t give it much thought. Until you have to! We talked to lots of people who have to think about waiting. Here’s what they said.

Have you been a Bachelor and Bachelorette fan since the beginning? If so, you might remember me, Jen Schefft, one of the show’s original stars. I “won” the proposal from The Bachelor Andrew Firestone on season 3 of the infamous ABC television series, that relationship ultimately ended, but I was given another chance at finding love as The Bachelorette – and I was the first Bachelor or Bachelorette star in the show’s history not to make a match! The backlash I experienced led to me writing a book, Better Single Than Sorry: A No-Regrets Guide to Loving Yourself and Never Settling.
After leaving the limelight, I DID find love, and married Joe Waterman, who I met on a blind date. We left Chicago after close to 20 years, and settled into an adorable little Ohio suburb outside of Cleveland with our two daughters, Mae and Charlotte.
From The Bachelor To The Burbs chronicles my life as it is now – a relatable 44-year-old suburban wife and mother of 2, dealing with all the joys and struggles that come life’s way. From chatting about the Bachelor and my incredible experiences on the show to commiserating about the highs and lows that come with marriage, parenting, working, health, beauty and aging – you won’t want to miss it!
Will you accept this rose, and join me on this journey?
