I know, I know – you’re going, “What happened to my Higher Ed Happy Place?” Well, if you’ve been paying attention to this show – or, generally, to anything happening on college campuses right now – you’re probably beside yourself with frustration and rage. I mean…I am. Don’t get me wrong – I don’t hate Higher Ed. I’ve spent my ENTIRE adult life on a college campus. I treasure and value what I have learned in my years of being an educator and academic. And yet – I’m so pissed off right now that the top of my head is about to explode. So that’s what this show update is all about. I want to say what other people in higher ed don’t want to say – that faculty have too much control, administrators are going soft, and the cost of higher education is completely out of control. And that’s just the beginning of this rant I’m about to go on. So – listen or don’t listen. I’m not holding back and I don’t care what you think. You’ve been warned. And if you’re still here – thanks for hanging out. Let’s learn stuff!

This Buddhist program aims to give every listener an opportunity to ponder some of life’s deepest questions such as: “Why do bad and good things happen? Is it karma? How can I overcome insecurity and start to care deeply for other beings? Can I lessen my depression and fears? Is reincarnation real? What is the mind? Exactly what is enlightenment? A Buddhist nun since the late 1970s, Robina Courtin has worked since then with the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition, a worldwide network of Tibetan Buddhist activities of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinopche. She has served as editorial director of Wisdom Publications, editor of Mandala magazine, and executive director of Liberation Prison Project.
