You work hard every day and you think the time has come for you to be promoted within the company. But when the opportunity comes, you don’t know how to bring up the subject in front of your direct superior to show that you are right. Here are several ways to show that you are ready for a promotion at work.
1. Update your knowledge and skills
A promotion brings new responsibilities and greater challenges. To face these challenges you will need certain knowledge and skills. The best way to show that you are ready for a job promotion is to work on these knowledge and skills that you will need for your future role.
Once you have them, make it visible, either by improving your professional profile on the internet or by notifying your superior that you have a new certification or title.
2. Bet on innovation
In companies, it is not only valued professionals who are capable of assuming the responsibilities of their position and getting the job done. Professionals who are able to offer points of view beyond the usual are highly valued. Leaving the comfort zone and betting on new ways of doing things adds extra value to your work and your abilities.
3. Become a reliable player
One of the things any manager pays attention to when promoting members of her team is the ability to manage work effectively. In other words, you must become the person your superior trusts when it comes to managing complicated issues or putting out the odd fires. To do this, you must be proactive, very organized and make sure to always respond to important emails and calls.
4. Make your work capacity come to light
While you wait for the long-awaited promotion to arrive, show that you are overqualified for your current job and that maintaining this position represents a stagnation in your professional career. Share it with your colleagues so they can support your position and ask for your help when they need to carry out other projects. This will help your direct superior to see your worth within the team and your ability to face new challenges in addition to the work that corresponds to you.

In the early days as I was trying to find my heart, as I look back now, it was a puzzle. When the real Gospel and the person of Jesus appeared in 2005, I was given a picture from which to assemble the puzzle. Or, a map through the maze. As Trinity now reveals more of the picture to me, as the pieces of The Larger Story appear as an ever increasing mural, now I can see what I could not see before. And the horizontal line represents the division between “above the line” (the place where I find God’s love and truth and peace and nourishment) and below the line (this broken world in which we must operate). Above the line reveals the picture so the puzzle pieces can fall into place. I once was blind, but now I see. I once was lost in a maze, but now I am finding my way. Not my compass, but His.
