    The Art Of Rave

    The Art Of Rave

    by

    Since Jun 29, 2020 04:00 UTC

While Becky Hill has an irrefutable aptitude for writing chart smashing pop music, her roots are firmly ensconced in electronic music – from listening to Trance and Drum ‘n’ Bass as a child, through becoming a ‘professional’ clubber in her teens to collaborating with some of today’s most renowned DJs and producers (such as Wilkinson, Tiesto and MK) in her twenties. Art of Rave provides the perfect platform for Becky to delve deep into the dance music scene she is so passionate about.During the course of the series Becky will explore electronic music, its culture and how it has changed over the years. She will be talking to icons such as DJ Zinc, Pete Tong, Andy C, Roni Size and more to discuss their music, their careers and their influence on the scene. Each of Becky’s guests will be bringing along three records that mean or say something to them, whether that’s because they’re by an artist that influenced them, remind them of a specific place or time, or feature a beat that changed them. Meanwhile Becky will be bringing along one of their records that defines why she has handpicked them as a guest for the series.

Mårten Spångberg: News From the Last of the International Hot Shots / Natten

Mårten Spångberg: News From the Last of the International Hot Shots / Natten

    by

    Since Aug 16, 2017 19:54 UTC

A young American woman reading an introduction to art moderne. A girl with a nose too prominent for her voice. Paintings that aren’t what they appear to be. Imposters (a whole group), seductive and black, impossible to neglect because they are recognisable. A French novelist using short staccato sentences. The darkness that sweeps in, that drops on us like a grey blanket, is like the front desk of a middle sized office building. Prominent darkness rises, a darkness’s darkness, drained also of the traces of something. Night is the double circle devouring itself as its bodies turn into erogenous landscapes. Everything is equally and now.

With a starting point in choreography Mårten Spångberg undermines practices and formats, blurring boundaries and media and emphasising the withdrawing tangibility of experience. Nothing is on show here, but out of nothing emerges a liquid darkness that floods our minds. The voice comes back and turns around like Robert Pattinson.

Written by Mårten Spångberg (Natten, 2016)

Voices: Nikima Jagudajev, Alexandra Napier, Emmilou Rössling, Anthea Buys

Producer: Peter Meanwell / Reduced Listening

    Sound Engineer: Robert Winter

    Produced by Hordaland Kunstsenter

Supported by The Swedish Arts Council, The Swedish Arts Grants Committee, and The Norwegian Arts Council.
