Taking Chances – Episode One: Ellen’s Bet

Taking Chances – Episode One: Ellen’s Bet

    Since Jul 21, 2012 04:57 UTC

“Ellen’s Bet” is the first volume in a collection of erotic literary stories called “Taking Chances”. They are stories about contemporary women, who for various reasons – sound or unsound, considered or impulsive – make a wager. The result of her wager, win or lose, will have a significant impact on the direction of her life and of her relationships. Ellen is a 38-year-old married mother of three. She is an executive with a Chicago firm that licenses proprietary industrial processes and provides training and consulting in those products to client firms. She travels to Baton Rouge in early February, 2010 to work with a firm there. She meets Patrick, who is her contact and facilitator on his firm’s behalf. Patrick invites Ellen to his home to watch the Superbowl. Although not particularly interested in football, Ellen accepts, seeing the social occasion as a pleasant way to spend an otherwise empty day in a city she has never before visited. Ellen meets Patrick’s wife, Roberta, and four young men from the firm Patrick has also invited. Naturally, all the others expect the New Orleans Saints, who play home games just eighty miles to the south of Baton Rouge, to win the game. Ellen expects the Indianapolis Colts, who play in her neighboring state, to win. One of the young men proposes a bet on the game for a sizable sum which all the other men are willing to match. Ellen is unable to cover the proposed wager with cash. For reasons she can’t begin to understand immediately, Ellen blurts out that she will cover the bet with her body. She understands the implications of what she is proposing. She understands the terrible jeopardy to which she is exposing herself. Somehow, though, the thought of being so far out on so perilous a limb – sweet victory one possible outcome, utter humiliation and abasement the other – lights a fire in her. She finds herself unable to resist the allure and tension of the hazard into which she is placing herself. Ellen’s Bet is a novella of eight chapters and about 25,000 words. Ellen’s Bet contains thematic material and descriptions that make the story appropriate only for adults.

Inspiring pregnant women to find more positivity during their pregnancy through changing their thoughts! As a pregnant woman, are you struggling to enjoy pregnancy? Do you want to feel better in mind and spirit in your calling as a mother of God’s Children during pregnancy but you don’t know how? How about simple, do-able steps, in mind and action, that can help you find peace and contentment without making drastic changes to your daily life? In this podcast you will find the simple, do-able thought tools to propel you forward in success for better navigating motherhood and pregnancy. My mission is to help you find a better life through changing your thoughts to work for you, which will help you find Meliora, or a better life! Meliora (mel-EE-or-uh) means ‘better’ in Latin. We can find the ‘better‘ through small steps in thought and action, to improve the journey of life, pregnancy, and motherhood. If you are ready to say YES to small changes over time that will help in your daily life, then you are in the right place! Hi! I am Joslyn the host of the Positivity in Pregnancy and Motherhood Podcast. I am a thought enthusiast, Latter-day Saint Christian, wife, and homeschooling mom of four. After my first pregnancy turned into an emergency C-section at 31 weeks, I was terrified to have more children. Not only was I scared, but I also disliked a lot of the changes that pregnancy brings. As a young girl I had dreams of having a larger family and being a mom. That is all I desired. But pregnancy was HARD. It knocked me completely off of my feet and I began to dread it. I even HIGHLY considered NOT having more children because the pregnancies were SO difficult. But that didn’t feel right. I knew God wanted me to have more children. Around this time I began learning about thoughts and the power of thoughts and positive thinking. I decided I was going to try changing my thoughts surrounding pregnancy from loathing dislike to more positive thoughts. It was an intentional process but it REALLY helped! IMMENSELY! I have now had four children and one miscarriage but I found mindset shifts that changes how I looked at pregnancy and it changed my pregnancies for the better. God kept nudging me that these things needed to be shared with other women who desired to have more children but pregnancies were hard! Through Him, I created a simple course called The Positive Pregnancy Program that can help lift a negative mentality with pregnancy specific mindset shifts that WORK! I feel the passion and desire to share what I found so that you can also find the positive thoughts to help you through difficult and hard pregnancies. After having my first child, I had a VERY difficult time being a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM). This was very hard and discouraging. Being a mom, and specifically a stay-at-home-mom had been my life goal/ dream/ aspiration. I was drowning in negative thoughts that destroyed my ability to enjoy my role as a SAHM and felt hopelessly discouraged in my good goals. Why were these good goals of mine SO HARD!? 7 years later, after many listening to many inspired podcasts, books and help from mentors, I have overcome SO many limiting beliefs holding me back from reaching my goals. Here are just a few milestones I have reached: I have lost 45 pounds 2x. I have found thought tools to make VERY difficult pregnancies better. I have found DEEP joy in being a stay at home mom. I have SINCERELY enjoyed homeschooling my kids without feeling resentful or jealous. And in this journey I. Found. Me. I found Joslyn. ALL of this progress in my personal improvement in pregnancy and motherhood began with a THOUGHT and re-directing and training my thoughts. If you are ready change your thoughts, and make headway in your divine motherly goals through in pregnancy and motherhood through small and simple mindset shifts, I can help YOU! I provide easy thought tools, do-able ideas you can implement immediately, and thinking that can revolutionize you as a Daughter of God raising and growing His children! It is a powerful journey! Since Feb 2, 2023 12:17 UTC

Rebbe Nachman left behind a wealth of lessons, aphorisms and parables to guide future generations on their spiritual path. But we would never know the man behind the teachings were it not for Shevachey and Sichot HaRan, the life and conversations of Rebbe Nachman. Compiled by the Rebbe’s closest disciple, Reb Noson, these works show us Rebbe Nachman at his most simple and direct – talking informally with those who were closest to him, giving practical spiritual advice to those who came to him for guidance. Often, as his apparently mundane conversations unfolded, he was led to some of his greatest revelations and teachings.
