Catriona Morton talks to fellow survivors of sexual assault and abuse about what happened to them and how they cope now. After experiencing sexual abuse and assault herself, Catriona felt like she was abandoned by society, “stranded in an ocean,” she says, “with only a life raft and no rescue in sight.” So she created her own life raft with a blog called Life Continues After, where anyone affected by sexual trauma can share their stories and advice in the hope that others will find something useful. Or even just some comfort in knowing they’re not alone.
This podcast continues Catriona’s mission. Each person’s story will be split into two parts – and two separate episodes in the podcast feed. In the first part – called ‘Then’ – survivors will tell Catriona as much or as a little as they want about what happened to them. If listeners feel this part of their story might be too triggering and distressing, they can skip to the second part – called ‘Now’ – where survivors will share the practical steps, resources and methods they follow.
If you’ve been affected by sexual abuse or violence, you can find details of organisations in the UK who offer help and support at bbc.co.uk/actionline.

A series of short vocal warm-ups and workouts for singers who want to exercise their voice. These can be your daily drills or you may want to dip in and out when your voice needs a bit of a workout. As well as the vocal warm-ups, there will also be specific exercises such as articulation, dynamics, vocal placement, breath control, connecting breath with sound etc. I always recommend that you have at least a few lessons with a singing teacher to ensure your technique is sound. A qualified singing teacher will give you advice on which exercises are best for your voice.

This is a podcast about people. A collection of stories from across the globe. Let’s face it, we are all pretty dang busy these days. With a limited budget, and even more scarce vacation days, it can be hard to look beyond your day to day life. We keep hearing the benefits of travel such as the sparks of creativity, the understanding of people and cultures, and the digging into yourself to see whats inside. Although I can’t provide everything travel has to offer through the convenience of your earbuds, what I can do is let you meet people you would never normally met. Meet poets in London, chefs in southern Germany, ghost hunters in Seattle, and an architect in Malaysia. They are all here, and generously share their stories so that we can see a different side of life. These are real stories, told by real people, that really live on the same planet we do, and the more people I meet the more I realize that despite our differences we are all just humans trying to survive on the same rock we call Earth. We are all people.

As well as both being professional comedians, Stuart Goldsmith and Sindhu Vee have two other big things in common: they a) are both parents and b) have no idea how to be parents. But hey, does anyone? In this show, the acclaimed host of The Comedian’s Comedian Podcast and the writer/creator of BBC Radio 4’s Sindhustan try to find out, seeking the advice of notable parents and experts on how to cope with parenthood, exploring the sacrifices, choices and mistakes made along the way. Light-hearted but ultimately informative, Child Labour aims to go past generality and cliche?, to ask difficult questions and seek substantive answers. This show aims to go beyond the headlines and get to the core of the joys and challenges of modern parenthood. We would love to hear from you, so tweet us! Sindhu @SindhuVFunny or Stuart @ComComPod, and include #ChildLabourPod, about anything we’ve discussed in this episode or on any of the podcasts so far!
