The Joe and Smith Podcast: Read the Book of Mormon with us

The Joe and Smith Podcast: Read the Book of Mormon with us

    by

    Since May 25, 2022 23:22 UTC

We are ex-Mormons and we’re re-reading the Book of Mormon together, but this time we know that it’s a work of fiction. We think we’re funny. In each episode we read a new chapter from the BOM and uncover how the church’s teachings affected us in our conservative, faithful days. We believe in love and acceptance, but we process some anger along the way. Expect lightmindedness, loud laughter, evil speaking of the Lord’s anointed, and taking the name of the Lord in vain.

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly of Real Estate

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly of Real Estate

    by

    Since May 10, 2022 17:27 UTC

Rebecca Uson’s Real Estate Career began in 2001 as a Mortgage Originator and she quickly grew her expertise in the real estate industry as a Title Company Account Executive, Credit Repair Specialist, Manufactured Home Sales Rep., Life Insurance Licensee and a New-Construction Home Sales Executive. She began her career in home sales in 2008 and quickly realized she had a knack for helping families find their dream home, so she acquired her Michigan Real Estate Sales License in 2012, then expanded her expertise in 2019 by acquiring her Michigan Real Estate Broker’s License. With her lifelong dream of living on the beach, she acquired her Florida Real Estate Sales License and expanded her business to the South-East Florida market in 2020. In 2018, Rebecca began training new and seasoned Realtors to help them develop their own talents and skills in the industry. She started the Rebecca Uson Real Estate Team in 2020 and is focused on helping agents be the best they can be for their precious clients.

Rebecca’s career was full of many down times. She many times wrestled with lots of self-doubt and she lived by the moto’s, “Fake it ‘till you make it” and “Never let them see you sweat”. At one point early on, she even hired a real estate coach that promised to help her turn things around, but never bothered to figure out what would work best for Rebecca. She had a 1-size fits all approach, an approach that was a horrible fit for Rebecca’s talents, and as a result almost succeeded in driving Rebecca right out of the business. Thankfully, Rebecca was not afraid to make tough decisions and enact changes swiftly. She was fortunate to find mentors along the way that believed in her and truly had a desire to help Rebecca succeed. They helped her believe in herself and her abilities. They didn’t try to change her, but helped her bring out her strengths and sharpen her skills.

Rebecca has big dreams for herself and her family and understands you do too! Your Real Estate Career should match your dreams and desires. Stop settling for mediocrity. Rebecca will help you discover what you’re really good at, and help you craft a strategy to match that. You were destined for greatness, but you’ll never get there by continuously chasing the sale and working 24/7. Life was made for LIVING, not for selling real estate. Yes, we all have bills to pay, but there really is a way to thoroughly enjoy both, with no regrets. Stop wishing…..start Living, and make all your dreams come true!

The Souls of Black Folk by William E. B. Du Bois

The Souls of Black Folk by William E. B. Du Bois

    by

    Since Dec 16, 2023 00:00 UTC

“Few books make history and fewer still become the foundational texts for the movements and struggles of an entire people….” One such great work was The Souls of Black Folk by William EB Du Bois. Published in 1903, it is a powerful and hard-hitting view of sociology, race and American history. It became the cornerstone of the civil rights movement and when Du Bois attended the first National Negro Conference in 1909, he was already well-known as a proponent of full and unconditional equality for African Americans. In the following year, he became one of the co-founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). In fact, the word “colored” was suggested by Du Bois instead of “black” to include people of color everywhere in the world. Du Bois was appointed Director of Publicity and Research of the NAACP and his main duty was to edit and bring out NAACP’s monthly journal The Crisis. The journal also served as a vehicle for his thoughts on socialism, black activism, unionization, inter-racial marriage, women’s rights and combating racism in all spheres of life. The Souls of Black Folk is a series of essays on different subjects. The theories and ideas contained in it went on to become the key concepts that guided strategy and programs for civil rights protests in America. In this work, Du Bois discards Booker T Washington’s concepts of “accommodation” of white supremacy and propounds that this would only lead to further oppression of African Americans. He also felt that human rights are to be enjoyed by all and neither “given” not “taken” and it is below a human being’s dignity to beg for rights. The publication of this book had an immediate and devastating effect in that it polarized the movement into two distinctly different groups. The more conservative and less confrontational approach advocated by Washington was rejected by those who found Du Bois’ more aggressive ideas better suited to their thinking. The writing style is extremely lyrical and poetic, with interesting turns of phrase. The ideas are thought provoking and stimulating, while presenting the reader with little known facts about African American history and sociology. Du Bois talks eloquently about “double consciousness,” the awareness that African Americans experience as citizens of America and also as a race apart. Du Bois speaks confidently as a proud American but also as one who is supremely conscious of the ills that plague American society. The Souls of Black Folk is an important historical document that provides great insights into the building of America as a nation.

    iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast

    iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast

    by

    Since Nov 5, 2005 11:13 UTC

The iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast is a weekly talk show all about the best new current comic book releases. Lifelong friends, Conor Kilpatrick and Josh Flanagan talk about what they loved and (sometimes) hated in the current weekly books, from publishers like Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, IDW, Aftershock, Valiant, and more. The aim is to have a fun time, some laughs, but to also really understand what makes comic books work and what doesn’t, and trying to understand the craft of this great, often under appreciated art form. Sometimes they agree, and sometimes… they don’t. With decades of experience talking about comics, interacting with comic book professionals, this is all about the love of an art form. If the names Brian Michael Bendis, Amanda Conner, Geoff Johns, Gene Luen Yang, Donny Cates, Jason Aaron, Kelly Thompson, David Marquez, Kelly Sue de Connick, Kieron Gillen, Charles Soule, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Scott Snyder, Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Esad Ribic, Rick Remender, Nick Spencer, John Ridley, Skottie Young, Chip Zdarsky, Jöelle Jones, David F. Walker, Grant Morrison, and Darwyn Cooke get you excited, then this is the place for you. This podcast is so good, you don’t even need to read comic books or graphic novels to enjoy it, but it’s a lot better if you do.
