Hong Kong Stories – Their love stories

Hong Kong Stories – Their love stories

    by

    Since May 4, 2016 16:00 UTC

The ten episodes of “Their Love Stories” will be based on ten families, with the younger generations investigating the love stories of the older generations as the main storyline. The love stories of parents or grandparents could be burgeoned in predicament with mutual love and care; they could be grown by mutual respects with discontent stands in the way; they could be lifetime affection; and they could be lifelong regrets. The perception of romance from the two generations can be comprehended in the course of investigation. Besides the loves stories, what matters more is that the younger generations will better understand the older generations, and learn the ambience and environment of different eras in Hong Kong. The programme is filmed as a documentary, from the first-person perspective of the youth. Through interviews with elders and relatives, and searching for photos and letters, youngsters seek to understand the stories of parents or grandparents in their days. During the investigation, the youngsters’ personal feelings and perception of love interweave, and at the same time, changes of relationship between the youngsters and their families are recorded. The programme ends with a love letter written by the younger generations for the older generations, with the content supplemented by aesthetic mood and images, in a bid to let the audience feel its sentiment.

I’m Coming to Take You to Lunch

I’m Coming to Take You to Lunch

    by

    Since Aug 26, 2019 07:03 UTC

British duo WHAM! were among the world’s biggest pop music sensations of the 1980s. Simon Napier-Bell began managing them in 1983, almost by accident. Previously he had looked after such stellar acts as The Yardbirds, Japan, T-Rex, and John Paul Young. He also co-wrote Dusty Springfield’s massive hit “You don’t have to say you love me”. In his best selling book “I’m Coming To Take You To Lunch”, he tells how he (through means legitimate…and maybe otherwise) took WHAM! to Beijing in 1985 to perform one of the most famous pop concerts of the 20th Century. In a five part adaptation written especially for Radio 3 by Simon, actor Barry O’Rorke reads this “fantastic tale of boys, booze, and how WHAM! were sold to China”. (Saturdays, 8.30am-9am) Produced by Simon Napier-Bell and Phil Whelan

    Gen Z Entrepreneurs

    Gen Z Entrepreneurs

    by

    Since Jul 10, 2022 16:00 UTC

In recent years, more and more young people quit their jobs and start their own businesses. Startups have been considered to be the engine for economic growth. According to the report of “the Startup Survey”, the number of startups in Hong Kong in 2021 has increased by 43% as compared to 2018. “Gen Z Entrepreneurs” is a case-based programme about young entrepreneurs. From ideas to practice, we shall understand their entrepreneurial process. How difficult is it to run a profitable business? Programme host LEUNG Ka-ki and veteran members of the industry will exchange views with young entrepreneurs to understand their business operations, answer their questions on operation or provide advice. In every episode, the “Meeting Room” segment will invite Chief Executive Officers or experienced operating officers from the business sector to chat with our host. Young people are always enthusiastic, and sometimes impulsive. Some people prefer dreams come first and profit put aside; while some people find their business lucrative when they give it a try, and then immediately expand their business for a greater boom. The way of doing business is that one cannot be short-sighted, but one should focus on how to sustain robust development of one’s business. Through this programme, we hope that new entrepreneurs and the public will know more about the actual situation and knowledge of business operation.

    Our Scientists (English Version)

    Our Scientists (English Version)

    by

    Since Jan 8, 2018 16:00 UTC

Looking up at the sky, scientists are always curious about everything happening in our universe, and they strive to explore various scientific fields without cease. Through countless observations, assumptions and verifications, scientists have tried very hard to find out and summarise the natural phenomena, thereby understanding the rules therein, but at the same time, encounter more and more irregularities and uncertainties. In all these years, Hong Kong has nurtured numerous talents in the international arena of scientific research, who carry out innovative research projects in various fields of science in an endeavour to improve people’s lives. These scientists, including LEE Hun-wei (Environmental Hydraulics), LAM Hon-ming (Life Sciences), LO Yuk-ming (Molecular Genetics), Nancy IP (Neuroscience), KWOK Sun (Astronomy) and CHE Chi-ming (Inorganic Chemistry), spare no effort in making contributions to science. Despite countless failures, they still persist in the scientific researches which they have chosen. In the end, they make breakthroughs in their researches and benefit different people. In the six one-hour episodes of documentaries, we will explore the science world and get to know about the scientists’ spirit of constant pursuit and being brave to explore on the path of seeking knowledge. With this, we hope to arouse public concern and awareness for the importance of scientific research.
