Working Title: A Literary Arts Podcast, is a literary citizenship project founded by the Fall 2019 cohort candidates in the MFA: Creative Writing program at the University of Central Florida. Our episodes will feature in-studio readings from the UCF literary community, interviews and readings from published faculty and students, seasonal readings such as our inaugural “Spooky Stories” episode, craft round-tables, and special events such as public readings and conference reports. Working Title: A Literary Arts Podcast is an independent project produced with the support of the University of Central Florida MFA in Creative Writing Program, the Department of English, and the College of Arts and Humanities.

So, let’s skip to life’s sweetest third and talk with authors about their journey from pen to publish. Welcome. I’m Julia Daily, your host, and I invite you to listen to interviews with writers who’ve achieved their goal of publishing a book just later in life. We’ve seen award lists for Under 30 or Under 40, but I’ve yet to see lists for those who’ve achieved a significant milestone of their own—launching a new career and publishing their first book after the age of 50. We will hear about these authors’ inspirations, struggles, strategies, and the smell of that first book. These writers’ journeys inspire me because I’m one of them.

Chapter and Verse – The Art of Selling Children’s Books will be hosted by children’s editor at The Bookseller, Charlotte Eyre. Twice a month, Charlotte will be joined by a different author who will share their story with us and discuss a challenge in line with their upcoming title.

From reaching out to LGBTQ+ teens to introducing an adult author to the children’s audience, we will be sharing ways to get books into the hands of all children from toddlers to young adults. With added insight from marketing professionals, publicists and retailers, this podcast will be educational and insightful.
