In a world where maybe no one is listening, outcomes and accolades for contemporary classical composers can seem far and few between. Therefore composers must embrace the one thing they will always have complete control over: the process. This podcast aims to understand this creative process by listening to new works and discussing them with their creators. Each episode focuses on one composer and their music. By understanding how and why they create can inform aspiring composers and help audiences better understand contemporary classical music. In addition, each composer will be asked to answer a few of the creative cogitations. The creative cogitations are a list of questions all creative people should ask themselves. He taught Counselor Education and Supervision in the College of Education at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. He is the host and producer of the Quintessential Listening: Poetry Online Radio podcast (qlporyt.com). He is also the Founder and Executive Director of the DC Poetry Project, Inc., in Washington DC. He uses poetry to spread awareness about power, identity, and oppression issues. His international reputation as a spoken word artist and performance poet has earned him the nickname The Counseling Poet. This is based on his background in mental health. Dr. Ingram has traveled extensively, lecturing and conducting workshops on developing cultural competency and empathy skills through the use of poetry. He has also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for his poetry. His second poetry collection, When Cherry Blossoms Fall on Black Skin is forthcoming. He resides in Washington, DC.

Ceil Clark is fed up with dating the twenty-something hipsters and slackers that litter the streets of Los Angeles nightlife like empty, discarded cans of Red Bull. Against the wise advice of her best friend, Lupe, she makes a pre-meditated decision to seduce, tag and bag her newest boss—Wayne Hayter; the cool and always collected thirty-something, corporate-loving, sports-car-driving, designer duds wearing, General Manager of the Porsche dealership where Ceil merely tolerates her 9 to 5 gig. But when a deliciously cute, mysterious and vaguely wild-eyed musician by the name of Mason Philips begins to crop up almost daily in and around the parking lot adjacent to her job just to chat—Ceil is intrigued—though he is just ‘another loser in a garage band’. Suddenly, the stoic and unruffled Wayne Hayter has some serious competition to contend with almost before his flirtation with Ceil manages to get off the ground. But Mason Phillips—with his cheerful positive outlook, pit bull-like tenacity and an unwillingness to hear the word ‘no’— has a couple of tricks up his sleeve to keep the ball in his court. By the end, Ceil’s only wish is to keep her hair from turning white before she has a chance to choose between her two dream suitors.
