    Before and After Stories

    Before and After Stories

    by

    Since Jun 3, 2021 20:15 UTC

Hear the real-time stories of people who have undergone plastic surgery and aesthetic or elective treatments. What drove them to move forward? How did they choose the right doctor? What do they wish they had known before they started? With her newly published book, “Blooming: Finding Gifts in the Shit of Life”, Carrington Smith speaks of the many trying experiences that shaped her. It is a riveting, page-turner with tremendous online reviews, but the one thing that particularly struck a chord with us was the scarring IPL burn from hell that she had to deal with and the images we still can’t get out of our head.

Carrington describes the extensive damage done by her cosmetic procedure burns and the errors that led her to the awful experience that changed the trajectory of her life. With help from the right medical professionals, including expert laser specialist Jenny Burnley, she was able to fully recover.

Carrington’s recovery from cosmetic surgery gone wrong is only one of the many experiences that have inspired her to share a crucial message of loving yourself, celebrating inner and outer beauty, and practicing self-care. If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s a good idea to buy a Groupon for a laser treatment or call that surgeon who does those hilarious TikTok dances, you need to hear this story.

The Heat is on is about telling people who they really are. An elephant in Asia allows himself to be bullied by a small boy, why? Because the elephant does not realise that he is much stronger and bigger than the boy. I am here to tell you that you are much stronger and more powerful than you think. You can do it! The Parenting Dare

    The Parenting Dare

    by

    Since Jul 19, 2018 18:53 UTC

I love my life. Becoming a wife/mother has been the absolute second best part of my life. (My faith life is first, sorry, husband and kids.) I have eight kids, yes, EIGHT. And yes, we are Catholic. People always ask if having a big family has been crazy, chaotic, or difficult. Well, yes, of course. But those things no longer concern me. What concerns me is how every single person in our culture, including myself, my husband and our children, has been tempted away from their best self. Going along with our culture is not living. Nor is it life-giving. I am too old to pretend that I have it all together. I am (finally) too wise to think I can do it all myself. That’s what “The Parenting Dare” is about: entering into the messy, the nitty, the gritty, and the beautiful. It’s about surrendering what we thought our family life would be like so we could receive the higher gifts that God has prepared for us. Some of those gifts are about becoming and being: JOYFUL PROACTIVE AUTHENTIC INTENTIONAL ACCEPTING FAITHFUL DARING Most of these podcasts will also posted in normal blog (with pictures!) format found at www.theparentingdare.com/blog. Please follow us on either platform! I say “US” because my oldest son Eric is my partner on this mission He is the tech side of this whole operation. If you ever hear a voice in the background, it is his. What surprises me most about this particular kid of mine: he can write. He has an engineering degree AND he can write. Weird, I know. He will guest blog/podcast occasionally, so you can look forward to his unique perspective. Eric is always pushing me out of my comfort zone and he is the one that suggested I move my beloved three-year old blog, “Prayer and Duct Tape” to The Parenting Dare site AND create a podcast to go with it. At first I thought he was delusional. But over time, I realized that playing small (even though it was nice and safe and warm and yummy) was not really serving God in this realm. Learn more about our mission. It’s a big one. If you love it, share it. Thank you for your beautiful support. We appreciate you.

Dawla: New Histories of the Medieval Middle East

    by

    Since Oct 23, 2019 00:00 UTC

DAWLA: New Histories of the Medieval Middle East introduces the research being carried out on the historiography of fifteenth-century Egypt and Syria at Ghent University to the broader public. Following a two-part introductory episode which introduces our current ERC project, “The Mamlukisation of the Mamluk Sultanate–II (MMS-II)”, we’re going to devote episodes to the historians we’re studying, thinking about their lives and works, what made them tick (or–in the case of one historian–what made him explode his career in spectacular fashion).

    Room for Doubt

    Since Nov 15, 2018 20:17 UTC

Conservative Christians are trying to protect the faith. Progressive Christians want to reimagine it. Meanwhile, our culture is moving beyond it. Who’s right? After stepping down this summer from a prominent conservative church, ex-pastor Drew Sokol finds himself in the middle and seeks answers to questions like: Does traditional faith still make sense in a progressing world? What’s God’s real intent for sexuality and marriage? And how do I follow a God I’m not always sure is real?
