Jill had money, Jill was engaged to be married to Sir Derek Underhill. Suddenly Jill becomes penniless, and she is no longer engaged. With a smile, in which there is just a tinge of recklessness, she refuses to be beaten and turns to face the world. Instead she went to New York and became a member of the chorus of “The Rose of America,” and Mr. Wodehouse is enabled to lift the curtain of the musical comedy world. There is laughter and drama in _Jill the Reckless_, and the action never flags from the moment that Freddie Rooke confesses that he has had a hectic night, down to the point where Wally says briefly “Let ’em,” which is page 313. The heroine here, Jill Mariner, is a young woman from the lower end of the upper class. We follow her through financial disaster, a broken engagement, an awkward stay with some grasping relatives, employment as a chorus girl, and of course, the finding of true love. Other characters include wealthy Drone Freddie Rooke and writer Wally Mason, her childhood friends; her financially inept uncle Major Christopher Selby; her fiancée at the beginning of the book, the M.P Derek Underhill, and his domineering mother, Lady Underhill; Jill’s unpleasant relatives, Elmer and Julia Mariner; more Drones Club members, various chorus girls, composers and other theatrical types, and, of course, miscellaneous servants. Whether they’re films that are groundbreaking and critically acclaimed, cult classics, or just a film viewed through a generation of nostalgia goggles, there are so many films that people are shocked someone hasn’t seen. Kirk Moore and Phil Rock will watch the films that people give them crap about not seeing and give their own takes on each film. Join Kirk, Phil, and the occasional guest as they try and figure out what makes people drawn to some of these films and reminisce on some of their favorite films.

Sam is a 40 something who likes The Doors. He doesn’t like the 80s. For him, there’s a period of time – starting on 12th Sept 1975, and ending on 2nd May 1989 – that he dismisses outright, music-wise. Charlie is his mate who can’t lie down and let this unhealthy view remain unchallenged. Sam and Charlie are old friends, old bandmates and new nemeses. If you can bear the pain, join our two music lovers on a voyage of discovery, obstinacy and outright idiocy. Warning: this podcast contains almost no correct factual information. It does contain ridiculous opinions and a healthy dose of swearing.

The only non-stepmom, stepmom podcast! Traditional Nuclear Families, where boy meets girl, they fall in love, have 2.2 kids, a Golden Retriever, and a white picket fence, are no longer the “only” family system. In fact, it’s been estimated that 1400 new stepfamilies form EVERY DAY in the United States alone! But with all the progress we’ve (supposedly) made in creating a fair world for more families, then why (oh WHY) are blended families/stepfamilies, LGBTQ+ families, common-law families, and non-white families still regarded as *other*? Your host, Brittany Lynch BScN, CSC, speaks to women in non-traditional families, explores the lies that society has taught us since we were children, and seeks to have you examine the disconnect between who you really are, and who society expects you to be. Get up-close and personal with real topics such as destigmatizing mental health and mental illness, viewing addiction through a shame-free lens, unpacking white supremacy, and examining the ways our patriarchal society has conditioned us to avoid being “other…” (including, in the way we set up our households.) Brittany worked as a Registered Nurse for nearly a decade before obtaining a post-degree certification in Stepfamily Counselling. She made the empowered choice to create her own life, and retired from the patriarchy (nursing) to pursue entrepreneurship. Brittany is a no-BS feminist, speaker, regular featured writer for StepMom Magazine, and the founder Stepqueen. Join your host and her guests as they guide you to get curious about new perspectives, examine the world through a new lens, and challenge the status quo. Because after all, you deserve an even better life. You are the Queen of Your Castle.

Chartable – https://chartable.com/privacy There’s the stepmom who struggled with major jealousy anytime she had to share her partner with her stepkids… There’s the stepmom who struggled with feeling unseen and unappreciated in her home, living with the nagging fear that her fiancé would leave her… There’s the stepmom who felt like an awkward “fish out of water” when it came to connecting with her stepson… And the stepmom who took on WAY more than she was able to, which led to major resentment toward her partner while she lived in a constant state of anxiety, getting *this close* to a breakdown… And they’ve ALL been able to totally and completely rewrite their stepmom stories, stepping gracefully into lives of peace, ease, joy, and fulfillment. In fact, the transformations these stepmoms have gone through in such a short period of time have been SO impressive, that I’ve invited them to come share their secrets with you. How did they do it? Tune into this heartwarming & inspirational panel with 4 amazing members of the Stepmom Story to find out how YOU too can live Happily Ever After. Wisdom is essential in building a strong family and home life. In this weekly podcast Kara Murphy talks with her husband Steve about how women can build up their families instead of tear them down. Kara is a wife, mother of ten, and seasoned homeschool mom. She and her husband Steve share the biblical wisdom they have learned through many years of marriage, parenting, and homeschooling. Proverbs tells us that, “The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down.” This podcast is both an encouragement and a challenge to rise above the folly that marks our culture and be HomeWise!
