    Oceangroover’s House Music Podcast

    by

No talking, just pure house grooves….. Who’s the DJ…. DJ Dave James aka Oceangroover has been DJ-ing since 1992. Growing up through the rave years, a natural progression into house soon followed. Dave has played at various UK South Coast clubs & in London over the last 20 years. In the mid 90s Dave resided in Sao Paulo, Brazil @ Club A-Loca for some time before returning to the UK to play at numerous venues along the South Coast, at club nights such as Oceangroove, Flylife, Wicked, Maison Profound to name but a few & also to be a guest on dance radio shows such as NRG FM & Deep Blue FM. When it comes to his style people have always found it difficult to pigeonhole him into one genre of House Music, but rest assured it will always look to have an underlying deep phat basslines, a dash of vocals & at times a nod to the house past, but the main element will be the overall sound that will make you wanna close your eyes & move! This eclectic deep funky house sound will feature in his mixes over the coming HouseLIFE series….hope you enjoy the Oceangroover sound and feel free to leave your comments or to simply say hi from around the globe …. peace x For DJ Bookings please e-mail: dje23@btinternet.com All mixes done using Vinyl Serato live. Funky House Mixes

    by

    Since Sep 20, 2011 20:42 UTC

Tech House Mixes, presents a wicked blend of upfront, House and Tech House Tunes, mixed entirely by me, Ian Crooks. The Tunes in these mixes can be heard on dance floors across London and the UK. Wicked tunes, with some great vocals.

I stick to two styles of mixes: My Club mixes are always full on, tune after tune, they atart slow and build in energy along the way, to give you a nonstop desire to get your dancing shoes on and count down the minutes till the weekend.

My Dance mixes do just that, they make you want to dance. But you don’t need to be in a club to appreciate these mixes. With the energy levels still high but the big sounds turned down, the tunes speak for themselves.

There’s no DJ sound effects or filters, just good quality DJ mixing.

JUICE – Sexy Funky House Music UK

    by

    Since May 20, 2011 17:01 UTC

Oozing style & sophistication in abundance with a splash of class & charisma all neatly hand-crafted in to one elegant package full of the finest musical ingredients. Simply put: House music at it’s finest. Funky, sexy & stylish. It’s all about House music! [itunes pic]
In this edition you can expect the usual driving house music consisting of tracks that have been destroying many a dancefloor for me in recent months & a couple tracks that simply never grow old!

The last half an hour is fronted by global mega-stars; Plump DJs.

Being early pioneers of the breakbeat genre, the Plump DJs have diversified in recent years to incorporate new styles such as electro, house & bass music. Their sound is still widely thought to maintain a breakbeat aesthetic, but their productions and DJ sets have become stylistically broader. Their live guest mix pretty much epitomizes this notion! In 2010, the Plump DJs began releasing material on new London-based label Grand Hotel.

Be sure to check the guys out here

    http://www.plumpdjs.co.uk/

    Enjoy!

    Max 🙂

p.s You can catch me playing for the next TRIBES event at The White House, London next Friday 26th August:

Tommie Cool was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan – a legendary breeding ground for exceptional musical talent in all genres. With his father being one of the original members of the soul group Enchantment, Tommie developed a love and appreciation for the emotion and energy of a plethora of music genres. He showed an early interest in making music by learning to play the drums at the age of five. After graduating from Redford High School and Wayne State University, Tommie founded the now defunct hip-hop group The Shadow Clique. This gave him the opportunity to write, produce, arrange, and emcee hip hop compositions. Although that experience opened doors for him, his real passion was DJing. Tommie loved the style of Jam Master Jay, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Mix Master Ice and other turntable mavens of the time, and after buying his first set of turntables in 2001 he began to emulate some of their techniques. Even though hip-hop will always hold a special place for Tommie, he also developed a passion for techno and house music over the years, through listening to revolutionary Detroit DJ, Mojo. Drawing on the influences of some of his electronic music heroes such as Jeff Mills (The Wizard), Octave One, Kevin Saunderson, Robert Hood and Derrick May, Tommie has made his home DJing in some of Detroit’s well-known venues. Tommie Cool has held residencies at The Mars Bar in Hamtramck, Coaches Corner and Pulse Lounge in Downtown Detroit. He has also played at The Works, TV Lounge, Motor City Wine and Jacoby’s German Beirgarten. His rising profile has also afforded him the chance to share the stage with some of the electronic music’s finest DJs and producers including Jeff Mills (The Wizard), DJ Minx, Los Hermanos, and Pirahnahead. A large part of Tommie’s appeal is his knowledge and appreciation for so many genres of music. He is able to blend all styles of music from jazz to techno to broken beat. With his continued success as a DJ and his desire to produce more music, there is no doubt that Tommie Cool is poised to become another exceptional musical talent from Detroit. [itunes pic]

Music and spoken word are weaved together into an

BASSLINE PUMPING NEEDLE’S JUMPING, BREATHLESS MIND AND HEARTBEAT THUMPING, BATHE YOUR SOUL AND BREATHE IN SOUND, LET MUSIC TURN YOUR WORLD AROUND!……A COUNTRY GIRL SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN BORN IN LONDON TOWN, I GOT THE BIG SMOKE IN MA BONES AND THE CITY SOUNDS IN MA PHONES! [itunes pic]
I originally mixed this for my radio show and had casually titled it in my files as ‘European & Tribal Radio’ This is literally, so completely up my street sound wise! It just bounces along, full of chunky and driving percussion. Exactly the kind of beats I love to have at my fingertips. This particular mix is one that really fell together perfectly, track to track, beat to beat. It seems to have it’s own happy heartbeat. Hope it makes you dance too as it does me :)x

dattrax is Jim and Dat, friends for over three decades, DJ Duo, and fanatic House Fiends! From Toronto, Ontario, Canada!

How do we describe our sound? Always Fun, Tech-Fused, Funky-Foot Stompin’, Carved Deep and Woven & Laced with Sweet Smooth Hands in the Air Vocals… Strictly House Music- always dattrax.

    FOR DJ BOOKINGS: dattrax@gmail.com

Just Google ‘dattrax’ and you’ll find us everywhere!!

We only listen to house music or anything that would sound good mixed with it. Enjoy our passion, and please comment after listening. You are the inspiration.

From DJ Bio: “…I was in love with house and DJing when I realized that it wasn’t music in the sense of Mozart, but a form of self-expression – participating in making a musical collage like a musical cut and paste.

You get to pick your favourite songs, how fast or slow, how long you want to play them, which part of the song you want to highlight, whether you want to cut it up or layer it and whether you want the feel to be smooth or charging, whether you want…

The combinations are endless w/ house music and that much fun!” Just so you know, we are giving you our best regarding time, energy, and love… We only buy 8-12 vinyl records for every 100 we listen to.

Jim & I have probably bought over 60crates of house music over the years- that’s over 6000 records and almost 8,000 digital house music tracks! We only buy 15-35 tracks for every 1000-2500 mp3’s we listen to. Sometimes less. We are beat junkies and buy every month!!

Finally, we end up only playing 80% (or less) of what we buy because it has to give us goosebumps, make us say ‘WOW’ or make us put our fists in the air when listening to a track, and sometimes after you buy, you decide that you don’t like the track as much.
