Do or Dice is a D&D 5e real play podcast with an international cast of characters with differing levels of experience of TTRPGs. Set in the homebrew world of Agmenesta two centuries after “the Shattering”, an event caused when a power-hungry emperor ingested massive amounts of draconic blood to increase his powers. In a single instant cities vanished, whole forests were burnt to dust and the Emperor was gone. As the centuries have passed the land has discovered a frail peace, but with the threat of war always on the horizon, nothing is ever as it seems.

Life is Short with Justin Long

    by

    Since Apr 29, 2019 07:05 UTC

Is it just me or is time flying by? How do we make the most out of our short time here on Earth? That’s what we’re here to find out. I’m Justin Long and I’ve been an actor for most of my life, so I’m used to getting inside the heads of the characters I play. But now that I’m getting older (I’m in my forties, yikes), I want to peek inside the heads of real people to learn how they find meaning in life. I’m also very curious what their favorite snack food is, and what emoji they use most often — ya know, the REALLY important stuff. Every episode I’ll get personal with all kinds of people, from actors to musicians to deep thinkers who fascinate me. My brother Christian is on hand each episode to keep me honest, and occasionally remind me about some of the embarrassing things I’ve done over the years. Join us, or if you have more important things to do, that’s okay too — life is short!

The road is not straight and many times uncomfortable. Her guests share personal stories, useful tools, and processes to keep the flame burning instead of burning out. Interracial Adoption – One Women’s Astonishing Journey

Interracial Adoption – One Women’s Astonishing Journey

    by

    Since Sep 13, 2022 18:36 UTC

Lea Rachel is launching her new book Seeking Forgiveness.

“Seeking Forgiveness,” Lea Rachel’s new novel, tells the story of interracial adoption in the US today from the perspective of a white mother who adopts a Black son and has no idea what she is doing.

The story begins when Rachel’s son Miles is arrested by the police in the middle of the night.

Over the next eight hours, as Rachel tries to get her son out of detention, she recounts their life together and the events that led them to this point. As a result, Rachel struggles with her competence as a mother, questions the viability of interracial adoption, and worries that her son will never forgive her for her mistakes as his adoptive mother.

    ABOUT LEA RACHEL

The novel is based on Lea’s journey as the Caucasian mother of an adopted African American son Lea, a professor at The University of Missouri-St. Louis can address the issues raised in her compelling novel.

    MORE ABOUT LEA

Lea Rachel comes from a literary background. Her grandmother, Beki Bahar, is an internationally published Turkish author and poet and her uncle, Anthony Kosnik, co-authored a well-respected liturgical book in the 1970s. Lea has been writing short stories since she was a little girl, and when she entered college at The University of Michigan, she was initially a creative writing major. At the University of Michigan, she had two short stories published in competitive University of Michigan literary publications, Prism and The Write Stuff. She crafted and honed her writing skills there.

Fearing starvation (and perhaps, to be honest, literary rejection), Lea switched her major in the middle of college to economics and pursued a Ph.D. in the subject over the next ten years.

Along the way, she traveled extensively to Turkey, Thailand, Peru, China, and Europe, gathering experiences and writing short stories.

Over the last few years, she has established her economics career as a professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis so that her bills can be safely paid, while in her free time, she has spent every available moment working on her writing.

The one time Lea entered a writing competition, the 72nd Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition, she placed fifth (out of over 18,000 entries) in the personal essay category for Insidious Red Parasite. Recently, Lea has been an attendee at the University of Iowa summer writing workshops, and she has also become a member of a dedicated and enthusiastic St. Louis writing group.

So the parties separated and then Dorothy was free to leave her hiding place. She longed to tell her friends the strange story, but she knew that the finding of Tavia was the one and only thing to be thought of just then. “Are you sure that this is the direction in which the boys went?” asked Nat, with something like a sigh. Dorothy looked over the rough woodland. “No,” she said, “there was a swamp, for I distinctly remember that they picked their way through tall grass, and about here the grass is actually dried up.” (Extract from Chapter 26)
