This podcast is designed to be a time-efficient revision tool to help you study for your medical exams. Each podcast leads on from the next and each season tackles a different area of medicine. The podcast supplements the material available on the www.zerotofinals.com website, in the Zero to Finals books and on the Zero to Finals YouTube channel. Whilst listening to a podcast you can follow along with written information and illustrations on the Zero to Finals website or books. The Black Doctors Podcast

    The Black Doctors Podcast

    by

    Since May 20, 2020 02:46 UTC

    Our Why:

Fewer than 6% of Physicians in the United States identify as Black. As Black pre-health professions students, medical students, residents and attending physicians and healthcare workers, we can struggle to find our sense of community. Feelings of self-doubt, inadequacy or even imposter syndrome may begin to creep in.

As Black Physicians (and future Physicians and healthcare workers) we experience many of the same failures, victories and challenges. The Black Doctors Podcast provides representation, advice and a community for underrepresented minorities pursuing healthcare related careers. Weekly conversations with Black Medical Students, Residents and Physicians brings the supportive, enriching vibes of Howard, Meharry and Morehouse directly to your eardrums.

Join our community. Join the conversation. Join The Black Doctors Podcast. …because representation matters

Saying “NO” in Medicine: The Ethics of Speaking Truth to Power

In this episode of the Black Doctors Podcast, we explore the ethical implications of saying “NO”. With recent news of a nursing strike in NYC, what is the ethical and appropriate way to say, “enough is enough”?

Dr. Steven Bradley, our host shares several personal stories in which he said, NO. Listen and share your thoughts! Below are three tips for saying NO:

    – Be assertive: Clearly and confidently express your inability to take on additional work, and provide a valid reason for your refusal.
    – Offer alternatives: If possible, suggest alternative solutions or individuals who may be able to take on the extra work instead.
    – Prioritize your workload: Make sure to prioritize your existing responsibilities and prioritize what work is most important to complete.
