Bernie: Who killed the Prince of Soho?

Bernie: Who killed the Prince of Soho?

    by

    Since May 26, 2021 23:00 UTC

Bernie Katz was an institution in London Soho’s club scene for over 30 years. Friends with the rich and famous, Bernie was the former front-of-house manager of Soho’s exclusive Groucho club and the guy who could get anything done.

In August 2017, Bernie was found dead in his North London flat aged 49 under mysterious circumstances. There was an outpouring of love for Bernie. But what wasn’t clear from the thousands of tributes was that in his final months, Bernie’s life had unravelled quickly, quietly and catastrophically. He was removed from his position at the Groucho Club, all the money from his private art collection was gone and he was being pursued by Albanian gangsters.

Who was the real Bernie Katz? And what led to his untimely death? In this three-part podcast series, journalist Mark Edmonds speaks to Bernie’s close friends and the celebrities who knew him well to understand how Bernie became ‘The Prince of Soho’ and the demons he left behind.

What happens when a double homicide case lands in your lap? What if it is the oldest active cold case in the history of American true crime? What if your father held a family secret for fifty years before he confided in you that one of the victims was your great-great uncle and that your grandfather had been held as a suspect? What if the murders happened during the most corrupt era our nation has ever known? And what if you are a retired detective, like me, with the unique skill set needed to figure out an 87-year-old family mystery? Well, you put everything else on hold and set out to solve it. This is my story. Shattered Souls: The Car Barn Murders is presented by CrimeOnline and iHeartPodcasts. Music by Sam Johnson

This is a science fiction story that is suitable for children and adults alike. It tells the story of John Latham a scientist and Engineer, who thinks he has found a way to travel through time, space or even another dimension. However, he is not sure unless he can test out his ideas. John is lucky enough to come across a wealthy man who puts up the money to try out John’s idea. But the crux of this book is, if he succeeds in getting there, wherever there actually is, what will he find when he gets there? Will he create situations that affect his own existence in the future? Would he be able to get back to his own world, universe or time? Or would John be trapped forever in that place and time that he so desperately wanted to travel to?

This first season is a mixture of interviews from people who have immigrated to the U.S. ranging from Mexico to South Africa to Turkey to Bolivia. With the Trump administration creating such a negative connotation around the word “Immigrant” now more than ever, immigrants need a voice to share their side of the story. Broken English is here to be that voice.

    Boston Blackie Podcast; Master Detective

    by

    Since Apr 13, 2015 14:07 UTC

Boston Blackie is a fictional character who has been on both sides of the law. As originally created by author Jack Boyle, he was a safecracker, a hardened criminal who had served time in a California prison. Prowling the underworld as a detective in adaptations for films, radio and television, the detective Boston Blackie was “an enemy to those who make him an enemy, friend to those who have no friend.” The Boston Blackie radio series, starring Chester Morris, began June 23, 1944, on NBC as a summer replacement for The Amos ‘n’ Andy Show. Sponsored by Rinso, the series continued until September 15 of that year. Lesley Woods appeared as Blackie’s girlfriend Mary Wesley, and Harlow Wilcox was the show’s announcer. On April 11, 1945, Richard Kollmar took over the title role in a radio series syndicated by Frederic W. Ziv to Mutual and other network outlets. Over 200 episodes of this series were produced between 1944 and October 25, 1950. Other sponsors included Lifebuoy Soap, Champagne Velvet beer and R&H beer.

When my niece was murdered in 2018, my interest in true crime turned to an obsession. I cover mostly Canadian cases and largely from my hometown of Calgary. I respect the victims and their families because I’ve been there. Every victims story deserves to be told. No chatting about my personal life or witty banter….I just get right to the case and tell the victim’s story. My personal story can be found in Season 1, episodes 17&18. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/amillionotw
