    by

    Since Oct 2, 2020 19:00 UTC

Interviews with some of the best new U.K. artists, songwriters, producers and music creators about their journey so far writing, creating and releasing music and how they navigate the challenges of being a songwriter, producer or artist in the U.K. in the 2020s. Many are fully independent or at the start of their careers in music yet are still achieving some great successes. We aim, through the podcast, to introduce you to music from some really incredible new songwriters and artists currently building their careers in music – and also hope it inspires and gives some useful insights to those of you out there, who may be wanting to create and release music of your own, but not sure how to get started. These are real stories from people creating and releasing their own music right now.

    by

    Since Sep 28, 2020 17:00 UTC

The Smashing Skull Sessions is a podcast, interview and review website, set up to showcase and support the underground rock and metal scenes. Our goal is to promote artists and bands from right across the globe, giving them another voice and another forum in which to get their music out to a greater audience. We also have a new review series, The Review Room, which is another unique way of getting bands and artists some extra coverage and promotion. The podcast is hosted by me, Pat O Regan, and I hope to offer my guests a different style of interview which is relaxed, unscripted and fun! On The Review Room, I’m joined by Tim Pijnenburg, Rich Buley & Rich Murphy, where we play and discuss some of the finest new releases that span many genres and styles. The show is entertaining, informative and well worth a listen! However, none of this is possible without the support of you music lovers. We are eternally grateful to every person who subscribes, shares, likes and listens to the shows and reads the reviews. To the bands, be sure to hit us up and let us help in promoting your art, whether through interview or review. Thanks to you all! The Smashing Skull Sessions – Always Supporting The Scene

    The New Slang Podcast

    The New Slang Podcast

    by

    Since Mar 18, 2016 01:06 UTC

New Slang is (mostly) an interview-based podcast hosted by music journalist Thomas Mooney. For the most part, it’s an hour-long conversation with singer-songwriters, musicians, and bands within the Americana, country, folk, and rock realms. We discuss influences, albums, songwriting, and all things within that artist’s life. Thomas Mooney has been published in the likes of Texas Monthly, Rolling Stone Country, Lone Star Music Magazine, Texas Music Magazine, Wide Open Country, and several other music publications.

On Episode 168, I’m joined by rising Texas singer-songwriter Mason Lively. At the end of the week (March 19), he’s releasing his sophomore album, the rich and robust Mason Lively. During this one, we talk about working with Wade Bowen and Justin Pollard (who co-produced the effort), writing songs in Nashville, maturing and taking notes from established writers, recording Mason Lively, his first concert experiences, and some of our favorite country bands from the ’90s and early ’00s.

The roster of artists that have crowded onto the club’s little stages, first at the original Sweetwater location two blocks away, and now at the new location which opened in 2013, reads like a Who’s Who of roots & rock music: Bob Weir, Aaron Neville, Big Mama Thornton, Carlos Santana, Elvis Costello, Etta James, Greg Allman, Van Morrison… the list of musical luminaries is endless. In the 80’s, the Times of London hailed Sweetwater as one of the best nightclubs in America and the legacy continues! Where Love Lives: Jazzie B

    by

    Since Jul 18, 2021 09:12 UTC

Lulu Le Vay presents her debut podcast, Where Love Lives! This isn’t a podcast dedicated to romantic love, but instead explores life’s pleasures and meaningful connections through conversation with a wide range of creatives, from DJs, singers and musicians through to writers, artists, directors and designers. Some you have heard of, and some that you haven’t. Lulu is a professional DJ, academic, lecturer, journalist and author. Her playful brand as a ‘PhDJ’ combines her worlds of music and academia, as her love of music is just as prolific as her love for education, research and writing. As a former music journalist Lulu has interviewed the likes of Missy Elliot and Nancy Sinatra, through to Barry White, Angie Stone and Dizzee Rascal. This move into broadcasting is a natural step for someone who loves to get under people’s skins and find out what makes them tick.

Women in Music with Millie Cotton

Women in Music with Millie Cotton

    by

    Since Sep 25, 2019 04:00 UTC

Women in Music is a podcast sharing the tales and careers of modern singular voices in music – they all just happen to be female.

Hosted by DJ Millie Cotton, WiM is an inclusive platform to elevate female voices by sharing the stories of acknowledged women. The podcast explores what it is they really do, how they got there and the day to day of getting it done. From artists to tour managers to sound engineers to merch managers, each episode is a frank conversation with great music makers and enablers about the industry.

After years of attending club nights run and played by men, Millie came across a DJ, who was a woman, and quickly realised her passion was a career possibility too. A few years on and Millie has DJ’ed for international brands like Youtube, Google, Conde Nast and Nike; warm up sets for Kelis, Post Malone and Pet Shop Boys and notorious London venues such as Village Underground, Concrete and Queen of Hoxton.

Had Millie realised that this career was an option, it’s likely she would have embarked on that journey from a much younger age and it was out of this frustration that Women In Music was born.

Having also previously had conversations with eminent artists Charli XCX, Jorja Smith and many others for magazines like Nylon, Wonderland and Rollacoaster, Women in Music is where Millie invites guests to share their career paths and experiences.

If you enjoy Women in Music, don’t forget to rate, review and subscribe.

Find Millie Cotton @millie_cotton and WiM @womeninmusicpodcast. All guests can be found in their various show notes.

    Thanks for listening!
