Personal Mythmaking with Janelle Hardy (formerly the Wild Elixir Podcast)

    by

    Since Dec 5, 2016 21:51 UTC

I asked my female and non-binary guests the same four questions, and together, we followed the intriguing threads of story and curiosity as they unspooled. 1 – Where are you and whose traditional (Indigenous) territory are you on? 2 – What’s your favourite fairytale/ancient tale? 3 – What’s your relationship with your body like? 4 – And what’s your connection to your creativity? These potent conversations are created by mixing creativity + the body + fairy tales + conversation with wild abandon.

Marvellous Hairy – a novel in five fractals –

Marvellous Hairy – a novel in five fractals –

    Since Aug 28, 2009 14:31 UTC

So hair is sprouting in unspeakable places and you can no longer carry a tune, but if you’re a surrealistic artiste with an addiction to Freudian mythology and guilt-free sex, turning into a monkey has its upsides. Nick Motbot may be evolving as a novelist, but his friends aren’t too sure about his DNA — at least, not since Gargantuan Enterprises started experimenting with it. And once they figure out what’s happening to him, they decide to set things right. MARVELLOUS HAIRY is a satirical novel about a group of friends sticking it to the man the only way they know how, with equal parts grain alcohol and applied Chaos Theory. Part literary fun-ride, part fabulist satire, and part slapstick comedy, MARVELLOUS HAIRY is about the power of friendship and love, the evils of power, and the dangers of letting corrupt CEOs run our world. And most importantly, it’s about how we have to release our fun-loving inner monkeys.

You can’t spell Game Master without “pretentious.” Well, you can, actually. But let’s pretend you can’t so I can make a point. My point is a good Game Master needs a lot of big, fancy words at their disposal to make their flavor text as confusing as possible. Oops. I mean engaging, not confusing. More at www.GMWordoftheWeek.com

Yes, once again it is time for another of our world famous Lost Episodes.

The problem is, there’s been a whole bunch of extenuating circumstances, which we try to explain somewhat unsuccessfully. But at least you get to hear some bits about swords, socks, and ninjas, along with a couple of people who really were in charge, like it or not. The whole episode just oozes with predicaments for you to try to sort through.

We’re switching up our means of support. Now, if you’d like to help support the show and want less of a hassle than Patreon used to be, we can direct you straight to Buy Me A Coffee, instead. Check it out at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Fiddleback

Fortelling: Story, Myth, Metaphor & Meaning as Medicine

Fortelling: Story, Myth, Metaphor & Meaning as Medicine

    by

    Since Mar 20, 2019 07:00 UTC

Myths and mysteries. Fables and fairy tales. Anecdotes and adventures. Oracles and oral tradition. Life surrounds us with themes, archetypes, symbols, and patterns that we weave into narrative to inform our relationship to everything: our selves, others, community, culture, nature, the divine. Courageous exploration of storytelling and its metaphors serves as a powerful tool for spiritual healing, growth, and change; dynamic, deliberate relationship with magick, myth & meaning facilitates personal, interpersonal & collective transformation. After all, stories, storytelling, and storytellers empower us to make connection, assign meaning, create value, heal history, explode paradigms, build the future, and reclaim both individual and shared experience. The Fortelling podcast celebrates stories, storytellers, and storytelling as magick and medicine. Without stories, storytellers, and storytelling, we lose our place in the world. Because life *is* stories. And stories are FORTELLING.

Digital Jung: The Symbolic Life in a Technological Age

    by

    Since Sep 29, 2020 19:00 UTC

Living a Symbolic Life in a Technological Age. Our digital age presents unique challenges for the practice of the inner life. What can the insights of Jungian Psychology offer for dealing with these challenges? In this series, we explore Carl Jung’s idea of “the symbolic life” through the lenses of depth psychology, mythology, fairy tales, poetry, religion, and more. We focus on three core questions: 1. What is the symbolic life? 2. Why do we need a symbolic life? and 3. How can we cultivate and live a symbolic life? This is a companion podcast to the book ‘Religious but Not Religious: Living a Symbolic Life’ by Jungian analyst Jason E. Smith.
