Zayd Dohrn was born underground – his parents were radicals and counter-culture outlaws, on the run from the FBI. Now Zayd takes us back to the 1970s, when his parents and their young friends in the Weather Underground Organization declared war on the United States government. They brawled with riot cops on the streets of Chicago, bombed the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol, broke comrades out of prison, and teamed up with Black militant groups to rob banks, fight racism – and help build a revolution.

Rebranded from So-Called Oreos, Sufficiently Black is a show that explores what it means to be comfortable in your Blackness despite living in a world obsessed with stereotypes. Hosts Kia, Amari, and Janae deep-dive into Black womanhood, identity and culture through a critical lens as they navigate their way through adulthood.
We’re taking a look back at an episode during the So-Called Oreos day for the holiday season! The hosts start off on a little bit of a funny tangent (sorry!) about a white student not knowing he applied to an HBCU and some funny Jonas Brothers interactions. The conversation revolves around how Black people celebrate the holidays and how it may different from our white counterparts. Rachel and Amari explain how they celebrate in a Caribbean household and the four debate if potato salad is only seasonal and what goes on yams. They later discuss the history behind Kwanzaa and why many Black Americans don’t celebrate as well as how to deal with grief during the holidays.
Is Kwanzaa Still A Thing? www.npr.org/2012/12/28/16820286…anzaa-still-a-thing

Stranger than fiction stories about my wildly imaginative inner life, my simple outer life, and how to walk gracefully with a foot in both worlds. Also, how to talk graciously with both feet in my mouth, which happens more often than I like. Sometimes I blurt out truths that people have hidden, and the truth stings like salt in a wound, but salt purifies, and the truth sets you free.
