Chef David Chang and the members of the Recipe Club sift through millions of recipes to find the very best way to make the food you want to eat (subjectively speaking, of course). From plant-based meat to broccoli to seaweed, Chang and friends are determined to cut through the noise. Each week, they cook one dish, debate it, and ultimately figure out a few ways to make it tastier, too.

    Principle of Charity

    Principle of Charity

    by

    Since Jun 9, 2021 07:43 UTC

Are you ready to burst your filter bubble? To hit pause on righteous anger? Principle of Charity injects curiosity and generosity back into difficult conversations, bringing together two expert guests with opposing views on big social issues.

But here’s the twist: as well as passionately advocating their own views, each guest is challenged to present the best, most generous version of the other’s argument.

This unique format comes from an ancient idea – the principle of charity – which tells us to seek the truth, not to win the fight; to truly understand the other before we instinctively reject them.

The podcast is hosted by Emile Sherman and Lloyd Vogelman. Emile is an Academy and Emmy Award-winning film & TV producer who’s obsessively curious about ideas and holds onto the naïve belief that a generous conversion is still the best way to get to the truth. Lloyd has a doctorate in psychology, spent years as a leader in the fight against apartheid before building reconciliation in South Africa, and describes himself as a recovering extremist who’s passionate about the potential to change our minds.

IT is changing—you know it, and so do we—and without a healthy dose of curiosity about how the future of IT will affect employee experience of entire companies, traditional workers will be left behind.

    Tribulations of Paulette

    Tribulations of Paulette

    by

    Since Mar 5, 2015 15:25 UTC

The Tribulations of Paulette chronicles an overworked and under recognized mother who thinks her glory days are long gone. Paulette is a heroine for a generation of talented, intelligent women who gave up careers in the 1990s to raise families. Driven largely by hormones run amok, Paulette has teen angst competing with middle age woes. She also has three boys under 12 and an inattentive spouse (make that four boys under 12). She is caught up in Larry David-esque encounters with kooky friends, gym rats and an elderly couple. She fights off the occasional former lover, and sometimes she doesn’t feel like fighting them off. Like Lucy Ricardo, Paulette wants to break into something- she just doesn’t know what “it” is. Paulette thought she peaked in her late thirties, but her tribulations will prove that she barely scratched the surface. It has been a long time coming.

    Sade, l’inconnu? Nouvelles approaches critiques

    Sade, l’inconnu? Nouvelles approaches critiques

    by

    Since Jul 22, 2013 18:09 UTC

International conference organised by Ertegun Scholar Manuel Muhlbacher and his college advisor Nicholas Cronk. Imprisoned during his lifetime and sanctified in the twentieth century, the Marquis de Sade has attracted considerable critical interest during the last decades. He was a favourite of literary theory in the sixties and seventies, while more recent scholarship has begun to explore how Sade subversively rewrites major texts of the French Enlightenment. As the constant interest in Sade shows, his work continues to puzzle and fascinate his readers. The conference Sade, l’inconnu? Nouvelles approches critiques brought together acknowledged specialists as well as young researchers to discuss emerging topics in Sade studies. Beginning with a keynote lecture by Michel Delon, the editor of Sade’s works in the Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, the conference engaged with neglected aspects of Sadean writing and highlighted perspectives for future research. The papers covered such topics as intertextuality in Sade, the Marquis’ universally neglected ‘decent’ texts and implied readership in Sade. For the 200th anniversary of Sade’s death in 2014, the papers will be published as an issue on Sade in Romance Studies
