Double A cut his teeth in the Drum ‘N Bass world before it was a well known genre. We get a glimpse into the early days of that side of the music industry, DJing before the internet and social media as well as becoming a lame adult and how to fight it.
Double A also recorded an AMAZING retrospective Drum ‘N Bass set recently that you can hear on Mixcloud.com/TheDJDoubleA. Highly recommended.

Welcome to This Is Not Happening: an album of the month podcast with four massive music fans that have been talking and blogging about their favourite records for the last ten years together. An exiled Londoner in the North (Guy), a Leeds scriptwriter (David), ex-housemates in Leeds Joey and Nolan whose paths all crossed through music, be it festivals, DJing, gigs, or just sitting at home listening to entire albums without talking. Music is the bedrock of our friendship. The podcast name nods to our one nailed-on shared love: LCD Soundsystem, but our tastes are wide, sometimes odd, and often not the same! From bass to balearic, disco to dub, house to hip-hop, folk to funk, pop to punk, and rock to r’n’b, we’ll all have music to champion, ready to be blessed or butchered by each other. Each episode we’ll be talking freely about our album of the month, and what we’ve been listening to lately. The conversation twists and turns, and while we are serious about music, it’s not so much that we can’t enjoy ourselves talking about it, in fact it’s why we do it. For everything we’ve loved in the past years, check out www.thisisnothappening.net, which will run alongside the podcast choices and much, much more. So why not join us for the conversation. It will always be lively….

Mixerman is a Los Angeles recording engineer who in the summer of 2002, on nothing more than a hunch, began to chronicle the daily events of his Major Label recording session with a bidding-war band, an infamous producer, and a limitless budget. And he did it in real-time—each night posting his entries on the Internet, withholding only the true identities of those he writes about. As Gina Arnold from Metro Newspapers reported at the time: “Mixerman is supposed to be writing about recording techniques, but somehow, through that prism, he has hit upon a gripping story. In this podcast, you will hear an audio dramatization of the story, as narrated by Mixerman, complete with music, foley, sound fx, and character performances by some of the most famous engineers and producers in the music business.

Single As Usual is dedicated to playing the 7-inch vinyl record. Over the years I have accumulated thousands of 45s and I feel that too many have probably gone unheard by too many people so here we are. My main goal is documentation and prolonging history. There are so many amazing records out there that have not been heard by people who would love them so I hope by playing these songs you will be introduced to a whole new world of music you didn’t know about, or you are hearing some you forgot about, or you just love good tunes. I will try to make each show as interesting as possible and I hope you enjoy the shows and hear something you like and will hunt the records down and buy yourself a copy. 99% of the music played on this show will be independent labels as I believe they need the promo more than others. Sit back and enjoy and please, go buy the records if you hear something you like.
